ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE TIMES: The standard times are: ARRIVALS: On or after 14:00 on the first day of a booking DEPARTURES: Term time: School holidays: By 16:00 on a Sunday By 12.00 on the last day of a booking during school holidays If you wish to vary the times given above, please apply to the County Office office@girlguidingsurreywest.org.uk Access to Paxmead is by key code which will be emailed to you with the acknowledgement for the balance of fees payment. Please note that the codes will not be released until payment has been received. Note : Balance of Fees must be paid at least 28 days before your stay starts

Driving directions: The Post Code for your Satnav is TW17 9NT From M25 - exit at junction 11 (Chertsey), - follow A317 towards Weybridge - at roundabout take the first exit onto A318 - go straight on at traffic lights onto B387, - at the next traffic lights turn right onto B375 towards Shepperton, - Passing over Chertsey Bridge, take the second exit at the next roundabout and proceed along Chertsey Road, - Dockett Eddy Lane is the first turning on right look out for red letter box on the corner; it is a narrow road. - Paxmead is situated at the bottom of the lane, right hand side after the entrance to The Range (if you reach the river you have gone too far...) From Feltham - proceed through Shepperton on B375, Chertsey Road, signed for Chertsey. - After passing Sheep Walk on right hand side take turning on left (look out for red letter box on corner) into Dockett Eddy Lane. - Paxmead is on right hand side after entrance to The Range (if you reach the river you have gone too far...)

Practical Information during your stay: (see also www.paxmead.org.uk) TELEPHONES: There is a pay phone in the small Leaders room - 01932 561850. It is recommended that this number is not given to parents, but used as an emergency number for Leaders. WARDEN: PAXMEAD does not have a resident Warden. You will be supplied with details of an emergency Paxmead contact with the acknowledgement for the balance of fees payment. Site rules: 1. CAMPS AND HOLIDAYS: All activities held at Paxmead must conform to the rules laid down by Girlguiding UK in the current edition of "The Guiding Manual". BOATING: If you intend to use boating facilities, you must read the boating rules and complete the boating request form, confirming that you have read and understood the boating rules. There is no age limit for Boating at Paxmead. However, it should be noted that the Thames at Paxmead can sometimes have strong currents and care should be taken to ensure that younger Guides or Brownies can cope with the situation. 3. DRESS: Guidewear, appropriate to the activity, should be worn by members of Girlguiding UK. Non-slip rubber-soled shoes must be worn at all times as it is extremely dangerous to be barefoot. Wellington boots must never be worn in boats. 4. ELECTRICITY: The cost of electricity is included in the per person hire charge. 5. EQUIPMENT: The main building is equipped with kitchen utensils, crockery, etc. for approximately 30 people. 6. BEDS: There are 12 x 2 Bunk Beds available for the main building and 4 + 2 beds in the leaders' rooms. NO BEDDING IS PROVIDED BY PAXMEAD. 7. MARQUEES: Anyone wishing to erect a marquee must seek permission in advance of arrival onsite. Contact the Girlguiding Surrey West County office at office@girlguidingsurreywest.org.uk to request this 8. FIRST AID: A small first aid box is available in the main building for emergencies. Resident groups are expected to provide their own first aid equipment. 9. RISK ASSESSMENT: The Paxmead Generic Risk Assessment is available from the website. Hard copies are also available in the small Leader room and the boathouse for your use whilst onsite. However, please note that the event organiser is responsible for completing a full risk assessment relating to the specific programme being undertaken for the visit.

10. SERIOUS INCIDENT/EVACUATION: The procedure is located on main notice board and in the small Leaders room. 11. ACCIDENTS: All accidents must be reported in the Accident Book in the small Leaders room. When a hospital visit is necessary, a Notification of Accident Form, also available, should be completed as soon as possible after the incident. In the event of a serious incident please follow instructions displayed. 12. FIRES AND BARBECUE: Fires may only be lit in the camp fire circle, on the hard bases provided for altar fires or on the barbecue. Please remove all ashes and ensure that all fire sites are left clean and tidy. Cold ashes may be added to the open compost bins. 13. LITTER AND RUBBISH: Please note that we now have both a recycling collection and rubbish collection. These are on alternate weeks so please continue to minimise waste. A compost bin is available for raw fruit and vegetable waste only. Cooked food waste must be double bagged and placed in Rubbish bin. Please ensure no rubbish is left around site. Recycling varies from Borough to Borough. Please ensure Spelthorne s rules are followed to avoid rejection and non-collection. 14. CAR PARKING: ALL vehicles are to be parked in the area designated and not on the grass areas unless with prior approval. Extra parking/activity space is available opposite Paxmead with prior arrangement and approval by the landowner. COACHES: should enter the grounds only to turn; they must be unloaded as near the road-side gate as possible. 16. SECURITY: The Base must be kept secure at all times and it is advisable to keep the road-side gate shut. When the group is away from Base, or even when operating on the river bank, if no member of the group is remaining in the immediate vicinity, care must be taken that valuables are either locked up in the main building or in the Boathouse. The main building and Boathouse should also be locked and made secure. Girlguiding Surrey West will endeavour to notify you of any pre-arranged visitors to the site, e.g. contractors, deliveries. From time to time boating events will be going on in the boathouse (particularly 1 st and 3 rd Sunday in each month (instructor training)). Please challenge any unexpected visitors and confirm the validity of their visit. 17. PROPERTY IN GENERAL: Please treat the Paxmead property as if it were your own. Put things back where they belong, even if someone before you has not! 19. BUNKHOUSE: Event participants should not be allowed to use the Bunkhouse as a play/activity area at any time unless supervised by an Adult. 20. NO SMOKING is permitted in any of the Paxmead buildings. REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR OWN TEA TOWELS, DISH CLOTHS, HAND TOWELS, RUBBISH BAGS, TOILET ROLLS, & BEDDING.

PAXMEAD Outgoing Check List Room All Stays Extra things to do if a cleaner is NOT booked General - Turn off ALL water heaters - Make sure Vacuum Cleaner - Turn off ALL room heaters is empty before you leave - Turn off all lights - Lock washroom and main doors, - Exit through kitchen door & lock. - Return key to key safe, padlock main gate - Report any faults and breakages to the county office Bedrooms - Lock Windows - Vacuum and clean - Check Fire door is closed & locked - Empty ALL Waste Bins - Remove Blu Tac (if used) Bathrooms - Empty ALL Waste Bins - Clean toilets, showers and basins - Vacuum & Wash floors Day Room - Check Fire Door is closed & locked - Empty waste bins - Remove blutac (if used) - Remove scuff marks from floor - Wipe windowsills - Stack chairs & place in 5 s (sideways to wall) - CLEAN and stack tables in rack (sideways on) - Vacuum and MOP floor Kitchen - Empty fridge and freezer - Clean fridge and freezer - Clean ovens and hobs - Clean microwave - Clean toasters - Empty kettles - Clean sinks and taps - Clean all worktops - Wipe clean cupboard doors - Vacuum and MOP floor Hallway - Remove all blutac - Remove scuff marks - Vacuum & Wash floor RUBBISH - Place rubbish in black bin, including food waste (double wrapped) - Place all recycling in green bin (No polythene or polystyrene please) If you have not booked a cleaner for your stay and wish to do so please contact Girlguiding Surrey West s County office at office@girlguidingsurreywest.org.uk Have a safe journey home we hope to see you again.
