Remainder of day is allocated as leisure at your teachers discretion. DAY 3 TOKYO (B) Catch the train to Disneyland and spend a fun day on the rides and attractions Did you know: You may prefer to visit Harry Potter World at Universal Studios in Osaka, it s up to you! DAY 4 TOKYO KYOTO (B) Enjoy free time for sightseeing in Tokyo before boarding the Shinkansen for an afternoon departure to Kyoto Check in to your accommodation and enjoy some free time this evening to explore Kyoto DYK: Travel on the Shinkansen is a wonderful experience and Japan train stations are an ideal location for practicing language skills and observing the Japanese culture. DAY 5 KYOTO (B) Explore the city of Kyoto with its many cultural and historical sites We offer a number of cultural activities you can select from, including fan painting, activities at the Kyoto Handicrafts Centre and sushi making DAY 6 KYOTO (B) Today explore Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion and Kyoto Imperial Palace. Many schools make time to visit Nara, site of the famous Kofuku-ji and Todai-ji Temples. DAY 7 KYOTO HIROSHIMA (B) Board the Shinkansen for Hiroshima On arrival check in to your accommodation Your accommodation is a comfortable 5 minute walk to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the A-Bomb Dome DYK: The Peace Memorial Park is the highlight of every school visit to Japan. The moving story of the Children s Peace Monument will stay with your students forever. Fold paper cranes and place them at the statue. DAY 8 HIROSHIMA OSAKA (B) Explore Hiroshima further with a visit to Miyajima Island After lunch (own arrangements), head to the station for your train to Osaka On arrival in Osaka it is an easy walk to your accommodation nearby DYK: You can visit Himeji Castle today, built in 1333. It is the finest example of Japanese castle architecture which survives today. We recommend a stop on your way to Osaka for a tour of this magnificent castle. Hiroshima Homestay Homestay programs are popular with many schools, and the Hiroshima International Cooperation Centre is highly respected by teachers for its teaching methods and selection of homestay families. Due to the content, facilities and activities included, these programs must commence on specific days. DAY 1 AUSTRALIA - HIROSHIMA (MONDAY) Fly from Australia to Hiroshima, connecting via Tokyo DAY 2 HIROSHIMA (L, D) (TUESDAY) After being met on arrival at Hiroshima Airport, transfer to Hiroshima International Co-operation (HICC) for your welcome and orientation Cultural activity this afternoon (Origami, flower arrangement or wear Yukata) Accommodation for the next 3 nights is at HICC DAY 3 HICC (B, D) WEDNESDAY After breakfast, commence the first of your Japanese language lessons (3 hours) In the afternoon, participate in your cultural activity After dinner, there are plenty of great evening activities to choose from Did you know - the HICC has a great range of sporting facilities and games available such as pool tables, table tennis, and indoor basketball court, gymnasium, reading room, a library and much more DAY 4 HICC (B, L, D) THURSDAY After breakfast, depart HICC for a full day excursion to Miyajima Island and Hiroshima. Highlights of the day include the Peace Memorial Park and the A- Bomb Dome. Return to HICC for dinner and evening activities DAY 5 HOMESTAY - HIROSHIMA (B, L, D) FRIDAY After breakfast, commence today s language lessons (3 hours). in the afternoon, you will meet your host family and begin your 2 night homestay. All meals are provided while on homestay DAY 6 HOMESTAY - HIROSHIMA (B, L, D) SATURDAY Students will enjoy spending a day with their homestay family. DAY 7 HIROSHIMA - KYOTO (B) SUNDAY The homestay family will return students to HICC before lunchtime. Lunch nearby before walking to the Sony ExploraScience Centre View Rainbow Bridge and the Odaiba Statue of Liberty before returning by train later that afternoon to your accommodation DAY 3 TOKYO TSUKUBA TOKYO (B) TUESDAY After breakfast this morning travel by private coach to Tsukuba Science Park (approximately 1 hour from Tokyo) Guided tour of KEK Home to the Belle II Mega Accelerator, KEK is a particle accelerator research laboratory Lunch nearby in the Tsukuba department store food court Make your way by coach to JAXA Space Research Facility self guided tour of the space exhibition followed by a guided tour of the KIBO Flight Control Room and Astronaut training facility (English) Return to Tokyo by coach later that afternoon DAY 4 TOKYO TSUKUBA TOKYO (B) WEDNESDAY After breakfast this morning travel by private coach to Tsukuba Science Park Arrive at NIMS (National Institute for Materials Science) for your workshop including lecture and experiments (English) before a guided tour of the facility witnessing Creep Tests and the Thermal Spray Laboratory Lunch nearby in the Tsukuba department store food court Your coach will take you to Science Square Tsukuba, the showroom exhibiting the progression of Industrial Technology and an insight into research undertaken by the Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (AIST) Return to Tokyo by coach later that afternoon DAY 5 TOKYO - YAMANASHI PREFECTURE - MT. FUJI - TOKYO (B) THURSDAY Travel by private coach to the Maglev Exhibition Centre in Yamanashi Prefecture (1.5 hours from Tokyo). See the Maglev demonstration and exhibition and learn how engineers have evolved the high-speed train industry through the use of magnets. Experiencing the Maglev train test run every 20 minutes on the 2.7 KM track where it reaches speeds in excess of 500 KMS per hour is a great thrill. Travel by private coach to Mt. Fuji 5th Station for lunch and some souvenir shopping before making your way to the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre where students will develop a greater understanding about the geology of Mt. Fuji as well as the important role it plays in Japanese culture Return by coach to Tokyo later that afternoon DAY 6 TOKYO (B) FRIDAY After breakfast at your hotel, take the train to Edo Tokyo Museum and discover the fascinating history of Tokyo Find your lunch nearby before heading to the Meiji Shrine in Harajuku and spend time wandering the streets known for their colourful street art, cosplay and fashion scene Following Harajuku, walk or train to Shibuya and experience the famous Shibuya crossing. Take particular notice of the beautification of the Shibuya River area which is undergoing huge transformation along its 2.5 km length to Tokyo Bay and the amazing engineering required to complete this huge task. Return to your hotel by train later this afternoon DAY 7 TOKYO OSAKA (B) SATURDAY After breakfast make your way to the nearby JR station and travel to Osaka by train On arrival at Shin Osaka station, transfer to the Osaka metro line and make your way to you nearby accommodation to check in The remainder of the day is allocated as leisure at your teachers discretion DAY 8 OSAKA (B) SUNDAY After breakfast at your hotel head to Osaka Science Museum by local train where you will be met by your guide for a guided tour. A short 60-minute tour, the museum features 4 floors highlighting Familiar Chemistry, Electricity and Energy, the Universe and Discovery and more. The best exhibit is in the museum foyer, see the robot solve the Rubik s Cube in just 16 steps! Next door to the Osaka Science Museum is the Osaka National Museum of Art which is worth a visit. After taking some lunch nearby, board a local train to visit the worldrenowned Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan (20 mins by train). With 15 large tanks, there is a focus on the fish of the Pacific Rim as well as specific zones featuring Japan Forest, Antarctica and more. Over 30,000 creatures and 620 species. Japan Homestay add-ons The Japan homestay program offers students a special insight into Japanese society through an intensive cross cultural experience of daily life, in particular Japanese customs and values. For those schools interested in providing a homestay experience with a difference, we also offer a homestay experience in Kyoto (Ayabe) and Osaka (Wakayama/Tanabe Farmstay). All homestay programs are for 2 or 3 nights. All Homestays meet school risk management requirements. AYABE SCHOOL VISIT (APPROX. 45 MINUTES NORTH OF KYOTO) Approximately 45 minutes north of Kyoto on the JR Line, this 3 day/ 2-night experience provides students with the opportunity to experience life with a Japanese family, and participate in cultural and sporting activities with the local schoolchildren in Ayabe. It is a common theme of our Japan tour feedback from students homestay is the highlight of their tour, and often wish they could spend more time with their host families. Prices Prices are based on your quoted itinerary including economy class airfares, multi-share accommodation and return airport transfers as indicated in your personalised itinerary. We will amend the price to reflect our costs at the time you request a quote. Pre-payable charges including Australian Departure Tax, airport charges, insurance levies and fuel surcharges are included in the total package price. There may also be additional foreign taxes. Passport & Visa Requirements Your passport and visas are not our responsibility and we are not liable for any loss or expenses caused by your failure to comply with these requirements. Flight reservations cannot be made without passenger names. You must, at the time of booking, advise the correct names of all passengers including students and escorts. It is vital that these conform exactly to the name in each passenger s passport. Name changes after tickets have been issued will result in the issue of new tickets and vouchers and incur amendment charges and may require a higher airfare to be paid. G.E.T Educational Tours can accept no responsibility for any additional charges, or inability to travel as a result of incorrect notification of passenger names. It is the responsibility of the traveller to ensure that their passport and visa validity is in line with the requirements of the country or countries they are travelling to. Deposits & Payments A non refundable deposit of $400 per passenger for tours to Asia and New Caledonia, and $1,000 per passenger for tours to Europe and the Americas is payable to confirm your reservation. Should any of our suppliers require additional deposit payments, then we will advise this in our deposit letter. Full payment is required a minimum 65 days prior to departure. Airfare only bookings require a non-refundable deposit of $250 per passenger to Asia and New Caledonia and $500 to Europe and the Americas. Bookings may be automatically cancelled if payment is not received. Teachers - we provide you with all necessary documentation and information to assist in completing your risk management reports and travel submissions We offer a unique teacher and parent on-line resource area where you can access updated itineraries, student language worksheets and other useful information when arranging your trip Changes & Amendments If you change your booking inside 120 days prior to departure date, we will charge a $150 amendment fee for each change plus any additional pre-payable taxes, levies or charges. Requests for an individual to travel outside the groups designated dates is subject to availability and will incur an additional charge of $150 per person, plus any charges that our suppliers may pass on to G.E.T Educational Tours. Travel Insurance It is a condition of travelling on our international tours that our passengers are fully covered by comprehensive travel insurance. This should be valid for the full duration of your itinerary. G.E.T Educational Tours offers suitable travel insurance for this tour. Luggage Free luggage allowances will be strictly enforced with excess baggage carried by airlines at their discretion and at passengers own expense. Note most full service airlines offer a 20kg free baggage allowance. Some low cost airlines may offer a lower allowance or levy an additional charge for baggage. Please note: in the USA, luggage fees may require payment at check-in. Cancellations & Refunds A cancellation fee equal to the deposit and any airfares paid will apply until final payment due date. Bookings cancelled inside this final payment due date will be charged a fee equal to 100% of the land content price and all airline cancellation fees. Please note: Airlines, ground handling companies, hotels, hostels, homestay accommodation operators, restaurants and tour operators may impose additional cancellation fees inside full payment due date. We will not refund any unused part of your itinerary including accommodation, transfers, tours and airfares. Airline refunds following cancellations will be made when the airline completes the refund transaction (this maybe in excess of 60 days).
