Number 338 2457 S.R. 118, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621 Phone: 570-477-3688 www.wrgn.com June 2017 Ride for Radio This Month One of the things many motorcyclists enjoy about riding is taking the winding back roads instead of the highways. The joy of floating around the curves on a motorcycle has to be experienced to be understood. The back roads of NEPA make for a great place to ride, and the route has been planned for this year s ride, coming up on Saturday, June 24. The Ride for Radio is a great opportunity for fellowship and a way to support WRGN and meet new people. This is WRGN s 6th Annual Ride for Radio and, as always, it will start and end at the WRGN studios with lunch under the pavilion, live music, and prizes! Check-in, along with coffee and pastries, will begin at 10 am in the parking lot of the WRGN studios in Hunlock Creek. Kickstands go up at 10:30 am and our experienced ride leader will guide us on a leisurely 60-70 mile ride through beautiful back roads. Even if you do not ride, you can join us for lunch and live music at the WRGN pavilion here at the studios following the ride. Cost for lunch and the music is $15. Reservations for lunch must be made by June 19. Pre-registration includes a WRGN Ride for Radio t-shirt, entry in a drawing for giveaways, and the meal after the ride. You may register at www.wrgn.com. The suggested donation is $30 for bikers, $25 for riders. Registration will also be accepted the day of the event however, t-shirts for same-day registration will not be available. Pre-registrations will be accepted until Monday, June 12. The ride is open to any legal motorcycle rider.

Page 2 From us to you... To the WRGN listening family, June 2017 That "feeling." You've had it before, and you will have it again, but you may not have it right now. What is "that feeling?" It can be different for different people. My latest experience was when I held my first grandchild two weeks ago. As his tiny little hand grasped my thumb, my heart melted. What is it that gives you "that feeling?" This past week I spoke to a listener who was still basking in "that feeling." For him, it was the most important decision he had ever made - the decision to follow Christ! The funny thing about feelings is, they can begin to fade over time, and that's where faith comes in. Hebrews 11:6 says "without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." Our hope at WRGN is that we can be a faith builder for you. The music, the messages, and the testimonies of God's faithfulness are reminders to us that "that feeling" is just the beginning of a life-long journey that will lead us to an eternity with God. Even after the feeling fades, the fact remains that God is faithful through the ups and downs. We are grateful for the opportunity to be there with you, 24/7, through life's ups and downs, to rejoice with you in your special days, and pray with you through the hard times. We are thankful for those of you who stand with us financially as we minister to those here in NEPA and beyond with daily reminders that our faith is in the one who told us in John 16:33, "...In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. Overcoming though Him, Tim & Heather Madeira

HERE AT THE The month of May was a busy one at WRGN and it flew by as we were anticipating our annual More Than a Yard Sale held on the first Saturday in June! While the forecast was for a sunny clear day, we were all surprised when we awoke to a rainy Saturday. Fortunately, the skies cleared and gave way to sunshine around 9 am. It was no deterrent though for Yard Sale fans, as they were waiting in line to enter the barn before 8 am! The barn was filled with items that had been sorted, priced, and categorized by WRGN s amazing volunteers. The big tent held smaller p i e c e s o f f u r n i t u r e, s p o r t s equipment, chairs, canning jars, glassware and tools. Books from the Good News Library s Big Book Sale were transported to the Yard Sale grounds and were added to by more donations from WRGN s family of listeners. Ralph & Louise Hill from Allentown made the trek to Sweet Valley with their pick-up truck full of goodies for the sale! Smaller tents around the Yard Sale grounds contained games and items for children, decorations for every holiday of the year, craft items, baked goods, homemade ice cream, and a fabric and materials tent! Two of the most popular stands were the food stand which served a pancake and sausage breakfast, fo l l owe d by lunch i n c luding homemade pierogies, sausage sandwiches, walking tacos, burgers, and hot dogs and the plant stand which offered perennials, annuals, h e rbs, h a n g i n g b a s ke t s, a n d vegetable plants. Live music was heard from STUDIOS our very own Tim Madeira, Doug Hamilton, Dan Close, and Denise Warner who were joined on instruments from WRGN s founder, Burl Updyke, and Share-A-Thon guest host Michael Warner. Pastors Steve Harvey from Hunlock Creek Brethren in Christ Church and Gideon Gaitano from New Life Community Church also joined in the musical fun. Preliminary figures show a net profit from the Yard Sale of just over $12,000! A huge thanks to Art & Barb Saxe and Ray & Sharon Cease for organizing this event for WRGN and to ALL the volunteers who worked at setting up, sorting, hauling tables and chairs, pricing, cooking, planting, cleaning, parking cars, carrying items to cars, and taking down the tents and restoring the grounds - THANK YOU! A complete listing of Yard Sale sponsors will be featured in the July Radiogram. The Good News Library s Big Book Sale on May 11-13, was a success as it raised over $800 which will go towards adding new items - books, audio books, and DVDs to the Library s collection. Thanks to Carol, Ellen, Lauren, Carla, and Andy who volunteered for the sale. WRGN is in need of a new riding lawn mower. Our current one died last year and our neighbors at WRGN, Craig & Judy, have been generous in letting us borrow theirs, but that can t continue all summer! If you have knowledge of fixing riding lawn mowers or have an extra riding mower in good shape you would like to donate to the station, please call Tim Madeira at 800-245-3688! We would greatly appreciate it! Page 3

Page 6 New at the Library School is almost out, summer is just around the corner, and with it, plenty of time for some pleasure reading! We love summer here at the Good News Library because we get to see some of our students who aren t able to make it during the school year! We recently had an out-of-town visitor to the library who wished she lived closer as she was sure her 10-year-old son would love to have access to so many Christian books. Our monthly theme is the Good News Library Top 10! Stop by and see the most popular books in the library! Our author of the month is Lysa TerKeurst, author of nearly 20 books including Uninvited and The Best Yes. Lysa is president of Proverbs 31 Ministries heard each weekday at 3:15 pm on WRGN. A Family Shaped by Grace by Gary Morland shares how to get along with the people who matter most! As a teenager, Gary Morland lived in an unhappy, dysfunctional family characterized by addiction and disharmony. When he started a family of his own, he sensed there must be a way to have a family shaped by acceptance and grace, a family that was loving, whole, and at peace with one another. He shares the timeless tools of family peace that will help you break unhealthy patterns, save your family relationships, and learn how to generously offer grace to the people who matter most in your life. This book will transform your family culture and family legacy, starting with yourself. Under a Summer Sky by Melody Carlson takes place in historic Savannah where Nicole Anderson, a high school art teacher, is looking forward to a relaxing summer as she house-sits and manages an art gallery for a friend. Before long, her summer turns into more that she has bargained for. A fellow gallery employee is trying to force her out, a displaced adolescent is roosting in the attic, and two of her childhood friends who happen to be brothers, are both vying for her attention. The Good News Library is open weekdays from 9-4:30 and the first Saturday of the month from 9-1. Annual memberships are available for a $5 donation which allows members to borrow five items per visit. Books may be borrowed for 30 days and audio books and DVDs for 2 weeks. Stop by today to borrow your books for pool-side reading or audio CDs for traveling!
