Overnight: Cairns 2 Depart Cairns, M.V Trinity Bay Tues 23 rd May 2017 In the early afternoon, make your way to Trinity Wharf to board the Cargo Vessel M.V. Trinity Bay. At 80 metres and over 3000 tonnes the Trinity Bay is the largest cargo vessel servicing the Torres Strait and the only one to carry passengers. 3 Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Wednes 24 th may 2017 Total relaxation as you enjoy the company of the crew and your shipboard companions.
4 Thurs Island, Horn Island Barge Day Thurs 25 th May 2017 The focus of all attention to are the wharves on Thurs & Horn Islands, as the MV Trinity Bay disgorges its cargo of fuel, building materials, indeed everything needed by these remote island communities. Time to explore legendary old Thurs Island. 5 Seisia, Bamaga & Punsand Bay Fri 26 th May 2017 Another "barge " but at Seisia wharf, the sea port for Bamaga's five Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A short stop at Seisia Islander Settlement before proceeding to our accommodation for the next 2 nights at Punsand Bay (ensuite facilities). Dinner and overnight: Punsand Bay 6 Cape York, Somerset Satur 27 th May 2017 A of interest and outdoor enjoyment. An early morning walk to "The Tip", the most northerly point of our continent. A tour to Albany Passage with a visit to historic Somerset, the once mooted "Singapore of the Pacific" (road conditions permitting.) A peaceful shady stroll through the unique rainforest of Lockerbie Scrub before again returning to your overnight accommodation. Dinner and overnight: Punsand Bay 7 Jardine River, Fruitbat Falls, Moreton Station Sun 28 th May 2017 Anticipation and excitement as we commence our overland trek. Retracing the paths of our earliest overlanders, we cross the swift flowing Jardine River to Fruitbat Falls, a Mecca for "off road" travellers. Enjoy a refreshing swim and lunch before we continue negotiating river crossings and bush tracks to arrive at Old Moreton Telegraph Station, on the banks of the Wenlock River. Cabin tent accommodation - shared facilities (twin share fully screened tents with beds, linen and lights. Gas powered hot showers, flushing toilets and outdoor covered dining area). 8 Weipa Mon 29 th May 2017 Time for a guided nature walk along this lightly forested waterway before we cross the sandy Wenlock River. Travel south to Batavia Downs Station then detour west to the Gulf of Carpentaria through huge cattle runs and Aboriginal tribal lands to the bauxite mining town of Weipa. A veritable "oasis in the wilderness" and providing further contrast to your experience of this last frontier. Dinner and overnight: Moreton Station, Tented Cabin Accommodation 9 Coen, Musgrave, Cooktown Tues 30 th May 2017 To we travel south to Coen then onto Musgrave Telegraph Station. After lunch we enter the massive bird and animal sanctuary of Lakefield National Park. The waterfowl teem in lily-fringed billabongs and you will have an opportunity to safely view crocodiles in their natural habitat. Travel over the legendary Battle Camp Range to historical Cooktown. Motel accommodation with ensuite facilities. Dinner and overnight: Cooktown 10 Cooktown Wednes 31 st May 2017 This morning we visit the historical sites of Grassy Hill Lookout, Cooktown Cemetery, Cooks landing site, the Wharf area and the Botanical Gardens. After lunch at Natures Powerhouse we visit the James Cook Museum and then free time to explore Cooktown at leisure. Dinner and overnight: Cooktown 11 Bloomfield, Cape Tribulation, Cairns Thurs 1 st June 2017 Crossing the wide Bloomfield River marks the start of our drive over the controversial "Bloomfield Track". Jungle green heights descend to the very edge of the Great Barrier Reef, with tantalising glimpses of deserted beaches and fringing coral. We travel through the famous World Heritage Rainforest across the Daintree River, then via the scenic sea road to Cairns and journeys end. Transfer to your Hotel in Cairns. Overnight: Cairns
12 Cairns to Home Fri 2 nd June 2017 This morning passengers will be picked up from their hotel and transferred to the Cairns Airport in time to board return flights home. BOOKING CONDITIONS Bookings A $1,300 per person deposit is due within 7 s of confirmation in order to secure your booking. Full balance is due no later than 8 weeks prior to departure. For bookings made within 6 weeks of departure full payment is due within 48 hours. Fares All fares are quoted in Australian Dollars. Fares include transport, entrance fees & cruise fares as per itinerary plus services of a driver/guide. Credit card payments for our tours will incur a 1.9% credit card fee. Itineraries and costings are subject to change without notice. Accommodation Accommodation is based on twin share. Single rooms are only available for the land content of the tour. Please note on some departures accommodation in remote areas may be shared between several properties due to restricted availability. Cancellations For cancellation within 12 weeks of departure - 50% of fare will be charged. For cancellation within 6 weeks of departure - full fare will be charged. Travel insurance We strongly recommend that passengers purchase travel insurance. Special requirements When booking please advise your consultant if you have any special requirements you would like to be provided. This includes dietary requirements and if you require any assistance with mobility. In some cases, you may require a suitable travelling companion to provide assistance. All dietary requests will be forwarded to pre booked meal providers on tour. Luggage Please ensure your main luggage does not exceed 20kgs in weight. An overnight bag of up to 8kgs may be taken on board in addition to your suitcase. Coach Government regulations prohibit smoking on board coaches within Australia. Ample comfort stops are provided en route. Passengers are required to alternate seating on the coach through the duration of the tour. All outback tours are subject to weather and road conditions. If at the time they are not be suitable for travel, changes may need to be made to the itinerary. Groups travelling together may be able to arrange a special pick up and drop off on some tours.
