Climb Via Some flight crews needed clarification of their responsibilities when they received a Climb Via clearance on the November 10, 2016 chart date Conceptually, it is similar to Descend Via procedures phraseology Pilots should determine the Top Altitude on the procedure and enter it into the altitude window in the Mode Control Panel (MCP) This action is critical to procedure compliance The pilot must comply with all published or ATC assigned altitude restrictions while climbing to the Top Altitude Pilots departing on SIDs are required to comply with any published altitude and speed restrictions When ATC removes an aircraft from the lateral or vertical path of a SID and subsequently reclears an aircraft onto the procedure, ATC is required to re-issue applicable restrictions Climb via may be used to clear aircraft to join a SID after departure or resume a SID Administration 12
