Sailing Sardinia & Corsica You will be seduced by this itinerary which combines Italian Sardinia and French Corsica. These two magnificent islands are separated by a narrow stretch of water known as the Strait of Bonifacio. A known circuit for the world s largest Superyachts, it will be hard not to rub shoulders with familiar faces in harbors and ports whilst you cruise in style aboard OMBRE BLU.
Olbia & North A swift transfer from the International Airport of Olbia will have you at the port in minutes, where OMBRE BLU will be waiting to embark you. Sardinia s coastline is an extraordinary sailing destination with hundreds of secluded coves, exquisite white sandy beaches and stunning rock formations. There are lots of activities to enjoy ~ swimming, snorkeling and diving, visiting towns and villages or just relaxing and enjoying the sun. For this itinerary we recommend 10 days.
Cala di Volpe Sailing north along the exotic Costa Smeralda or 'Emerald Coast' (an area known as a luxurious tourist destination), we will pass Porto Rotondo, Portisco and continue on to Cala di Volpe. Situated in this natural harbor is the famous luxury hotel designed by the architect Jacques Couelle 'Hotel Cala di Volpe'. During the summer this bay becomes home to 'Megayachts', and those who like fine dining and shopping. It's time to re-join OMBRE BLU and head to our anchorage for the evening.
Porto Cervo The coastline's attraction for many is its diversity; from dunes to deep emerald coves and dramatic cliffs. Porto Cervo is another beautiful port with an extremely modern marina complex including boutiques, cafes and waterfront bars. It is definitely worth taking a stroll through the narrow streets, stopping for a cocktail and some people-watching! You have the freedom to enjoy activities ashore or choose the privacy of your yacht OMBRE BLU at anchor.
Isle de Maddalena The archipelago of La Maddalena is a national park blessed with crystal clear waters and sand the color of a good rosé wine! Here one can spend days exploring and enjoying the marvelous anchorages. The main island of the group is La Maddalena which is surrounded by Caprera, Razzoli, Budelli, Santa Maria, Santo Stefano and Spargi. Archaeological findings show signs of habitation back to prehistoric times. This is a fantastic opportunity to take your firstever scuba dive as the surrounding waters are shallow and clear.
Porto Vecchio After a short sail across the Strait of Bonifacio, we leave Italy and arrive in French waters (no customs are required). We make our way into a deep natural harbor which Is overlooked by the historical city of Porto Vecchio. After a refreshing afternoon swim at one of the many delightful bays, a stroll up to the 'Old Town' for an aperitif and dinner at one of the fine French restaurants is a must! This is a wonderful chance to experience two cultures in one day! The town is delightful and the views are lovely. We can stay at anchor or in the marina.
Bonifacio Sail south to the Iles Lavezzi and be amazed by the rock formations scattered throughout these well-navigated waters. The Lighthouse of Lavezzi watches over the strait and its magnificent isles of granite. From Lavezzi it is just a short hop around the corner to the magnificent Bonifacio where we will berth for the night. The entrance is spectacular and cannot be missed! The city itself is a bustling tourist town with plenty of shops and restaurants. You can walk to the tip of the island and see Sardinia across the water.
Heading South From Bonifacio we make our way south to Capo Teresa, exiting France. There are many more islands and anchorages to explore as we make our way back towards Olbia via the Maddalena group, and along the Emerald Coast. This is the perfect time for a relaxing massage, or to complete your onboard dive course. Your own private massage therapist and diving instructor are always aboard when you sail with OMBRE BLU.
