3.7 mm Cannulated Locking and Conical Screws Features Self-drilling, self-tapping tip Locking screwhead securely locks the screw to the plate to make a fixed-angle construct Locking screws are fully threaded Conical screwhead allows compression of the bone to the plate Conical screws are partially threaded T15 StarDrive recess is self-retaining Lengths available: 10 mm 60 mm (2 mm increments) 65 mm 95 mm (5 mm increments) Indications For fixation of fractures, osteotomies, and nonunions of the clavicle, scapula, olecranon, humerus, radius, pelvis, tibia, and fibula, particularly in osteopenic bone. Surgical Technique 1 Insert wire guide Instrument 360.266 1.6 mm Wire Guide Thread the 1.6 mm wire guide into the locking hole of the metaphyseal area of a plate. 2 Place guide wire Instrument 900.601 1.6 mm Drill Tip Guide Wire Insert the 1.6 mm drill tip guide wire to the desired depth. Confirm the position of the guide wire with the image intensifier, if necessary. 3 Determine screw length Instrument 03.240.001 Direct Measuring Device Use the direct measuring device to determine the appropriate screw length. Surgical Technique continued 4 Remove wire guide Instruments 314.114 Cannulated StarDrive Screwdriver, T15 360.266 1.6 mm Wire Guide 900.601 1.6 mm Drill Tip Guide Wire Remove the wire guide, leaving the guide wire in place. The cannulated T15 StarDrive screwdriver may be used, if necessary. 5 Insert locking screw Instruments 310.65 3.2 mm Cannulated Drill Bit 314.114 Cannulated StarDrive Screwdriver, T15 900.601 1.6 mm Drill Tip Guide Wire Insert the cannulated locking screw over the guide wire. Perform final locking of the screw manually. Notes: In hard bone, the 3.2 mm cannulated drill bit may be used to penetrate the near cortex. If required, lag screw reduction of a fragment must be accomplished before inserting locking screws into the fragment. Lag screw reduction can be accomplished using conical screws.
