Passport and Visa Every foreign visitor entering Egypt must have a valid passport. Visitors from countries whose citizens must have visas should apply to an Egyptian consular office or diplomatic mission in their respective country. For further details, please contact your travel agent or the local consular office in your country. Insurance The organizer cannot accept responsibility for accidents which might occur. Delegates are encouraged to obtain travel insurance (medical, personal accident, and luggage) in their home country prior to departure. Climate The temperature in Sharm El-Sheihk during the symposium period ranges 14 26 C. Currency Exchange Only Egyptian pound is accepted regular stores and restaurants. Certain foreign currencies and credit cards may be accepted at a limited number of hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. You can also change money at foreign exchange banks and other authorized money exchanges on presentation of your passport. Traveler's Checks and Credit Cards Traveler's checks are accepted only by leading banks and major hotels in principal cities, and the use of traveler's checks in Egypt is not as popular as in some other countries, VISA, Master Card, Diners Club, and American Express are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, restaurants and nightclubs.

Objectives and Symposium Format It is a pleasure for the Mediterranean Aquaculture and Environmental Protection Society (MAPES) to send you the first announcement with registration forms and call for abstract of the International Symposium of Mediterranean Aquaculture and Environment (ISMAE 4). The symposium is scheduled to be held for four full days. It will consist of plenary sessions introducing topics. Sessions will consist of selected oral presentations and poster sessions. Each session will be opened with a review on a selected topic followed by original oral presentations. Individual sessions will cover the following specific areas: Algae & seaweed culture Aquaculture and environment Aquaculture engineering Aquaculture for poverty alleviation Biosecurity production system Biotechnological applications Breeding and genetics Business planning and investment Computer technologies Crustacean culture (shrimp, Artemia, crabs, lobster) Desert aquaculture and food safety Education and training Effluent management Endocrinology Environmental monitoring Fish reproduction Fish culture (fresh, brackish, marine) Impact on biodiversity Integrated and polyculture systems Intensification and recirculation Inter-regional networking Live food culture Market & Economics Aquaculture diseases, Diagnosis, therapeutics Mollusuc culture (calms, cucumber, squid, octopus ) Nutrition and feeds. Invitation for Presentations of Abstract Research and technical papers are invited to present orally or in the form of posters. The posters will, as usual, be presented in the vicinity of the symposium area. Authors are encouraged to emphasis potential applications of their work for the end user. Contributions for the poster sessions are encouraged for all aspects of aquaculture. Several sessions with authors present are planned. Instruction for Presentations Participants who intend to contribute oral and/or poster presentations must be submit an abstract before July 15, 2012, along with the registration form and the fee. Abstracts should be sending as attach file by e-mail to: frc_suez@yahoo.com Submission of Manuscript The proceedings of the symposium will be published in "Mediterranean Aquaculture Journal". The manuscript should be prepared according to the style specified by the journal. Complete manuscript (in triplicate) and a computer CD (or attached file on: maspub@miaes.net) must be submitted at the symposium before December 4, 2012. The full text of the manuscript including figures, tables, and references should not exceed 20 pages, typewritten with double spacing. Use A4 or 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Workshops Some workshops will be organized during the symposium period. Invited speakers will be covering all topics of these workshops. More details will appear in the 2nd announcement.

General Information Language The official language of the symposium is English. An abstract in Arabic of the poster presentations is encouraged. Further information The second announcement with detailed information and the provisional programme will be available mailed in July 1, 2012 to those persons who have returned the (pre) registration form. More details will also be available at www. miaes.net. Farm Tour Aquaculture facilities are plentiful in Sinai and some very special tours will be set up by the MAPES. Ras Mohamed: lies at the peak of Sinai Peninsula, between Suez and Aqaba gulfs. Renowned for having the most exquisite coral reefs in the world and being a refuge to rare marine life. It has recently been declared a natural reserve which made it most fit for diving. Sinai Mountains: among all the stupendous works of Nature, not a place can be selected more fitting for the exhibition of Almighty power. Monastery of St. Catherine: built in the 6th century and dedicated to the daughter of a ruler of Alexandria, who converted to Christianity and was subjected to great torture. Refunds less 30% on cancellations received between August 1, 2012 and September, 2012. After this date refunds will not be possible. All refunds will be processed after the symposium. Only cancellations in writing received at the symposium secretariat will be considered. In the event of any unforeseen circumstances, MAEPS reserves the right to change the date and venue of the symposium or to cancel it.

A range of hotel accommodation has been secured at competitive rates for ISMAE 4. Local/Domestic Tours If you are coming from outside Egypt to attend ISMAE 4, you don t want to come all that way or take time to visit some of the many wonderful sights and experiences that way are available in Egypt.
