04-April-2015 Website: http://www.lewisskiclub.org President s message Friends, Wow, where did the time go? While we wind down the winter fun, the summer activities are upon us. This year we have some fun and new activities like Go Ape Ziplining, Polka Fest, Hofbrauhaus, as well as some old favorites like the Goodtime III, Bike and Brew Tour, Kelley's Island, Rocky River Bike ride, and annual Club Picnic. Go to our webpage for more details. https://lewisskiclub.org/calendar Got a summer activity you like to lead? Let us know. Come join us for the 2nd annual ice cream social at the June 2 club meeting. If you like to bring any cookies/treats or something to share, that would be great. We will not be meeting in July so the next time we meet after the June meeting is in August. Therefore, please put the August 4th club picnic at Albion Woods onto your calendar. Expect plenty of food and fun for everyone. Please sign up online to let us know of your planned attendance. This will help us ensure there is enough food for everyone. While I did say winter fun is over, the club trip leaders and officers has been working hard to get 2016 weeklong trips going. We are proud to present 2 weeklong trips, Whistler, BC and South Lake Tahoe (Heavenly, Kirkwood, Northstar), CA. We will be breaking new ground here: South Lake Tahoe (Heavenly, Kirkwood, Northstar), CA trip will be an all online sign up. Yes, you read correctly. This will be our beta test for the full online sign up. Go to our webpage to sign up for membership and the trip. (online sign up available soon) Whistler, BC will be accepting checks for the trip as usual. As always, feel free to bring some friends to the meeting and bring some great ideas to share. Activities include bike or golf cart rental to get around the island, view the glacier groves, go shopping for unique items, swim at the sandy beach, eat at one of the many restaurants, drink at one of the many bars or at the brewery or sample some island wines at the winery, or just relax and people watch. For more information, contact Lisa Ferenc at kelleys-island-2015@lewisskiclub.org. Hofbrauhaus outing Eight of us ventured to the Hofbrauhaus on Thursday, May 21st, for a great dinner and wonderful conversation. We did a little celebrating for Jan Neumann s birthday and her pre-retirement. John Berger kept us entertained by just coming from the dentist and not feeling half his face. Cindy Dreibelbis and myself even went exploring in some of the nooks and crannies of the Hermit Club, what an interesting old building. One big drawback of the outing was that there was a miscommunication with the band and they never showed up. We were all ready to dance around after all that good food, but we made the best of it by singing a Ya Ya song and doing a shot ski. Maybe we ll try the Hofbrau again when the weather is better and we can enjoy that huge beer garden patio. Lisa Ferenc 4
