INDEX

Hand-picked routes, hotels and restaurants at each location. Precise and reliable taxi transfers and luggage transfer services. Detailed and comprehensive route notes, revised regularly. Accurate maps taken from the Spanish Geographic Institute. For further details visit our website www.awayfromthecrowds.com E-mail and telephone support by English speaking staff to sort out every small query prior to departure. Full, on the ground, support. We aim to resolve any eventuality in the best possible way, putting you first and cost last. We take your feedback extremely seriously and act upon any complaints or suggestions. You know best. Not us. The beauty of a walking holiday is that it really gives you the chance to get to know a small region well: to smell the aromatic plants, to feel the ground you walk on, to taste the foods the people who live there prepare and to observe the animals that inhabit it. By focusing on a small geographic area you do get a real impression of the land and its people. Many of the regions where our walking tours take place will be unfamiliar to you and there is a good reason for that: we want to take you to beautiful and culturally rich places which have not yet been transformed by mass tourism. Our walking itineraries will take you to beautiful hidden corners of Spain, where foreign tourists are seldom seen. We want you to feel privileged to be there! There are many such places in Spain waiting to be explored We have started with Segovia and the Guadarrama National Park, The Sierra de Salamanca and Somiedo, in Asturias. In recent years, there has been a high increase in national weekend tourism demanding high quality rural accommodation. This has resulted in a good network of small, family run and characterful rural hotels which allows us to avoid large, impersonal hotels. We look for friendly hosts (even if they speak only a little English!) that can make all the difference. Good cooking and being passionate about traditional dishes and locally sourced produce is also an important factor we cosider. EASY/MODERATE: A predominantly flat route with a few small ascents each day. Generally walking along good footpaths, around 15 kms and requiring no more than 4 hours of walking each day. MODERATE: Undulating / hilly terrain with more irregular paths and some steeper ascents or descents each day. Walking no more than 20kms requiring less than 5 hours of walking each day. MODERATE+: Longer distances and hilly terrain with sometimes as much as 30kms per day requiring a maximum of 7,30 hours of walking. 4 5
