We are in need of someone to take over the position of treasurer as Paul Bailey is stepping down after many years in that position. The position is going to be split into two positions, treasurer and membership. Please consider volunteering your time to Cedar Valley Woodworkers in one of these positions. Summer is the time is usually do not do much woodworking as I would rather be outside. This summer has been a little different than usual. I have done a lot of woodworking outside, but not really by choice. In early July we had a wind storm go thru and took down four sixty plus year old ash trees, and topped out three others. I had to have a tree service come and cut down three large limbs that were hung up in other trees. I spend a lot of hours with the chain saw and loader getting them cleaned up. Still need to get a stump cutter in to remove the stumps so I can mow over them. We also lost a 100+ year old American Elm tree to Dutch Elm disease. The trunk of the tree at about waist high is almost 13 feet around. This tree will come down By Jerry Krug later this year. The current problem was the loss of the shade from the tree turned two of my wife s shade gardens into sun gardens. One we will move next spring but the other my wife wanted to keep so I came up with a plan and built a shade arbor over the garden. I had to dig the post holes and do all the rest of the construction over the existing plants. This article is a little short as the deadline for the article is while I am on RAGBRI.
