Do you know a family in need of a holiday? The Salvation Army is a Christian Church and Registered Charity that has long been associated with a compassionate work among families and communities, as a direct response to our commitment to God, and out of a desire to reflect His love for all people. We are ever more conscious of the desperate need of so many in our society who are disadvantaged and who struggle daily simply to survive, and to provide what they can for those who rely upon the. With this in mind, The Salvation Army have put together a holiday package designed to help those most in need of a break from their normal environment. This brochure sets out the package, and outlines the process which referring agencies need to follow when recommending clients/families.
What is on offer? We have two six berth caravans at Southerness Holiday Park which is approximately 16 miles from Dumfries. The park is ideally placed for exploring the Galloway coastline. Set right on the edge of a beautiful beach, Southerness boasts stunning sea views over the Solway Firth... with lots to explore nearby from peaceful sandy dunes to bustling market towns.

Our Caravans Our caravans have a spacious lounge with dining area, a gas fire, television and DVD player. Off the long corridor there are two twin rooms and one double room, each with drawer and wardrobe space. There is a spacious shower room and toilet with wash hand basin, a fully fitted kitchen with all the necessary kitchen utensils and appliances, such as gas hob and oven, fridge, toaster, microwave, etc. The caravans also have a pull down sofa bed in the lounge if needed.
Other Information Price information: The cost is 30.00 per week. This fee goes towards the maintenance, heat & light and cleaning of the caravans. What is included/not included in the price of the break?: Included: Accommodation and holiday passes. Clients should bring their own food. Not included: Transport to facility, food, towels etc. Any other information you think people might find helpful: All paperwork needs to be taken to the Holiday Park for access to keys. Cultural needs catered for: We do not take direct referrals but through any agent such as a housing officer, doctor, social worker etc. Each application is taken on a case by case basis. Anyone can apply as we have many holidays outside of the school holiday parameters. The caravans internally are not fitted for disabled use but there is a ramp on one of them.
Where is the Caravan Park? Southerness Holiday Park, Dumfries, DG2 8AZ The Park is approx. 16 miles from Dumfries. Local Area Attractions 1. Dalscone Farm 2. Mabie Farm Park 3. Sweetheart Abbey 4. Galloway Wildlife Park 5. Cocoa Bean Factory 6. Ice Cream Factory Once in Dumfries, follow the A710 (Solway Coast Road). If travelling by public Transport, buses from Dumfries with direct or one change journeys are available.
What do prospective clients need to remember? On arrival at the park, guests will be greeted by staff in the Reception Area, who will ask for their letter of introduction and passes form which are supplied by us on successful application. Guests will be given the keys, passes and a laundry pack which contains all they will need in terms of bedding, pillowcases etc. All that guests physically need to take with them is food for the family, together with hand, bath and tea towels. The amount of food will depend on whether guests choose to cook for themselves or take advantage of the food outlets on the site. The caravan will be clean and tidy upon arrive and we simply ask that guests ensure that it is in a similar state when they leave. PLEASE REMEMBER! If there is any damage caused to the caravans, the family or referring agent will be liable for repairs. There should be no smoking or alcohol consumption in the caravan's.

The 30 fee can be paid by cheque (made payable to The Salvation Army ), cash or BACS payment. We would require this to be paid three weeks before the holiday date.
