DESCRIPTION This service bulletin enables ADS-B Out technology that improves overall airspace situational awareness and flight safety. Aircraft equipped with ADS-B Out capabilities automatically transmit position, velocity, and heading information to other airplanes and ground stations. COMPLIANCE OPTIONAL. This service bulletin can be accomplished at the discretion of the owner. NOTE: If the aircraft is not equipped with Garmin G1000 software version 0563.34 or later, then SEB-34-13 or SEB-34-16 must be incorporated to upgrade the system software to version 0563.35 before this service bulletin can be accomplished. A service bulletin published by Cessna Aircraft Company may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin kit. Only with written authorization from Cessna Aircraft Company can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts. 3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service bulletin only as approved and published. 4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service bulletin only to aircraft serial numbers identified in the Effectivity section of the bulletin. 5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations. No individual or corporate organization other than Cessna Aircraft Company is authorized to make or apply any changes to a Cessna-issued service bulletin, service letter, or flight manual supplement without prior written consent from Cessna Aircraft Company. Make sure the Garmin G1000 software version is 0563.34 or later. A. If the Garmin G1000 Software version is 0563.34 or later. Go to Step 2. B. Is the Garmin G1000 Software version is not 0563.34 or later, do a software updated to 0563.35 (or later). NOTE: If the aircraft is not equipped with Garmin G1000 software version 0563.34 or later, then SEB-34-13 or SEB-34-16 must be incorporated to upgrade the system software to version 0563.35 before this service bulletin can be accomplished. 2. Do a check to determine if the airplane has a GTX33ES Transponder installed as follows: NOTE: Refer to the EFFECTIVITY Section for a list of airplanes that were equipped with a GTX33ES transponder from the factory. If your airplane was delivered with a GTX33ES transponder you can do the steps that follow to make sure the GTX33ES transponder is still installed or go directly to Step 6. A. Bring the G1000 system up in configuration mode. B. Go to the LRU's page. C. Scroll to GTX1. (1) If GTX33ES is displayed, the airplane is equipped with a GTX33ES Transponder. Go to Step 6. (2) If GTX33ES is not displayed, the airplane is not equipped with a GTX33ES Transponder. Go to Step 3. 3. Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded. B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) Disconnect the airplane battery. (2) If connected, disconnect external electrical power. D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the batteries and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them. October 25, 2016 Page 3

4. Remove the GTX 33 Transponder from the airplane. (Refer to the applicable Maintenance Manual, Chapter 34, GTX 33 Transponder - Maintenance Practices.) A. (If the removed GTX 33 Transponder is part number 011-00779-10.) Complete a removal tag and return the transponder to Textron Aviation Parts Distribution. NOTE: Owner/Operators: The 011-00779-10 GTX 33 Transponder must be returned to Textron Aviation Parts Distribution, Warranty Administration, 285 South Greenwich Road, Bldg B89, Docks 1-4, Wichita, KS 67206, USA, and exchanged for an upgraded unit. Due to limited availability, advance scheduling is required, please expedite the return of the removed part. B. (If the removed GTX 33 Transponder is part number 011-00779-00.) Discard the transponder. NOTE: Owner/Operators: The existing 011-00779-00 GTX 33 Transponder must be discarded and a Garmin PN 011-00779-30 (Textron Aviation PN S3100-563) GTX 33ES Transponder must be ordered. Refer to the Material Information Section for additional information. 5. Install the Garmin PN 011-00779-30 (Textron Aviation PN S3100-563) GTX 33ES Transponder. (Refer to the applicable Maintenance Manual, Chapter 34, GTX 33 Transponder - Maintenance Practices.) 6. Do the GTX 33ES Transponder software load. A. Make a software SD loader card as follows: NOTE: If SEB-34-13 or SEB-34-16 was incorporated, use the software SD Card supplied with that service bulletin to load the software. The SD Card can be found in the software sleeve of the POH. When the software load is complete, return the SD Card to the sleeve in the POH. Use a blank SD card, the Cessna NAVIII Installation Software CD located in the sleeve of the Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH), and a laptop or PC with both a CD and SD drive/reader, create a software SD loader card by opening the file in the CD and following the prompts. Return the CD to the sleeve of the POH when the SD card is completed. B. Remove the database cards from the PFD and MFD and identify each card as PFD or MFD. C. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery. D. Apply external electrical power to the airplane. E. Disengage the PFD circuit breakers on the ESS BUS and AVN BUS 1. F. Disengage the MFD circuit breaker on the AVN BUS 2. G. Put the BAT MASTER switch to the ON position. H. Put the AVIONICS MASTER switches to the ON position. I. Put the STDBY BATT switch to the ARM position. J. Engage the MFD circuit breaker while you push and hold the ENT button on the MFD. K. Release the ENT button when INITIALIZING SYSTEM... is shown on the MFD. L. Put the software loader card in the top slot of the PFD. M. Engage the PFD circuit breakers while you push and hold the ENT button on the PFD. N. Release the ENT button when INITIALIZING SYSTEM... is shown on the PFD. O. Push NO when the UPDATE SYSTEM FILES prompt is shown. P. Push NO if the UPDATE SPLASH SCREEN prompt is shown. Q. Use the FMS knob and ENT to go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page. R. Use the FMS knob and ENT to select your airplane model from the GROUP field. S. Find and select the Full Configuration (WAAS) in the pull-down menu in the ITEM field with the FMS knob and ENT button. T. Push the CLR ALL softkey to uncheck all options. U. Use the FMS knob and ENT button to scroll down to and select the GTX software and configuration line items. V. Push the LOAD softkey, then push ENT when the upload is complete. W. Go to Step 6.Q. 7. Do the GTX 33ES Transponder configuration. A. Make the software SD loader card as follows: NOTE: If SEB-34-13 or SEB-34-16 was incorporated, use the software SD Card supplied with that service bulletin to load the software. The SD Card can be found in the software sleeve of the POH. When the software load is complete, return the SD Card to the sleeve in the POH. Use a blank SD card, the Cessna NAVIII Installation Software CD located in the sleeve of the Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH), and a laptop or PC with both a CD and SD drive/reader, create a software SD loader card by opening the file in the CD and following the prompts. Return the CD to the sleeve of the POH when the SD card is completed. B. If necessary, remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery. C. Release the ENT button when INITIALIZING SYSTEM... is shown on the PFD. N. Push NO when the UPDATE SYSTEM FILES prompt is shown. O. Push NO if the UPDATE SPLASH SCREEN prompt is shown. P. Use the FMS knob and ENT to go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page. Q. Use the FMS knob and ENT to select your airplane model from the GROUP field. R. Find and select the Cessna NAVIII GTXES Installation Option in the pull-down menu in the ITEM field with the FMS knob and ENT button. S. Push the LOAD softkey to start the installation. T. Push the ENT button when the installation is complete. U. Push the UPDT CFG softkey then push the ENT button to update the PFD configuration module. V. Push the ENT button when the update is complete. W. Use the FMS knobs, go to the "Aircraft Configuration" page in the "System" group. X. Verify the aircraft registration number and the VFR code in the "Aircraft Configuration" window, if they are not already present, enter the ICAO address if this field has not automatically populated. Y. Press the "SET GTX1" softkey and select "OK." The box after GTX1 should now have a green check October 25, 2016 Page 5

Z. Put the STBY BATT switch to the OFF position. AA. AB. Put the AVIONICS MASTER switch to the OFF position. Put the BAT MASTER switch to the OFF position. AC. Remove the software SD loader card from the stop slot of the PFD. 8. Do the ADS-B Out configuration. A. Disengage the PFD and MFD circuit breakers on the ESS BUS and AVN BUS 1. B. Disengage the MFD circuit breaker on AVN Bus 2. C. Put the BAT MASTER switch to the ON position. D. Put the AVIONICS MASTER switches to the ON position. E. Put the STDBY BATT switch to the ARM position. F. Engage the MFD circuit breaker while you push and hold the ENT button on the MFD. G. Release the ENT button when INITIALIZING SYSTEM... is shown on the MFD. H. Put the 010-00905-06 ADS-B Out Unlock Card in the top slot of the PFD. I. Engage the PFD circuit breakers while you push and hold the ENT button on the PFD. J. Release the ENT button when INITIALIZING SYSTEM... is shown on the PFD. K. Use the FMS knobs and the ENT button to scroll to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page. L. Use the FMS knobs and the ENT button to select ADSB in the GROUP field. M. Use the FMS knobs and the ENT button to select ENABLE ADS-B OUT in the ITEM field. N. Push the LOAD softkey to start the installation. O. Push the ENT button when the installation is complete. P. Push the UPDT CFG softkey then push the ENT button to update the PFD configuration module. Q. Push the ENT button when the update is complete. R. Put the STDBY BATT switch to the OFF position. S. Put the AVIONICS MASTER switches to the OFF position. T. Put the BAT MASTER switch to the OFF position. U. Remove the 010-00905-06 ADS-B Out Unlock Card from the top slot of the PFD. NOTE: The 010-00905-06 ADS-B Out Unlock Card can only be used on this airplane and should be kept in the sleeve of the Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH). V. Put the database card that was in the PFD back into the top slot of the PFD and put the database card that was in the MFD back into the top slot of the MFD. W. Put the BAT MASTER switch to the ON position. X. Put the AVIONICS MASTER switches to the ON position. Y. Put the STDBY BATT switch to the ARM position. Z. Make sure that the PFD and MFD start in normal mode. 9. Verify ADS-B Out functionality by performing the following test: A. Cover both GPS antennas with a metal shroud sufficient enough to block a GPS signal. Verify loss of signal on MFD AUX-GPS STATUS page. B. Activate XPDR 1 (on the PFD, press the "XPDR" softkey followed by the "XPDR 1" softkey). Page 6 October 25, 2016

C. Verify amber "XPDR 1 ADSB FAIL" CAS message is shown in the Annunciation window. D. Remove the shroud from the GPS antennas. E. Wait until a 3D DIFF NAV solution is acquired on both GPS 1 and GPS 2. F. Verify the amber "XPDR 1 ADS-B FAIL" CAS message is no longer present. G. The integrated transponder/altitude reporting reporting system must be verified in accordance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 91.411 and 91.413. Perform a transponder ramp test. This test requires the use of a Mode S ramp generator. Specific instructions for operating the ramp tester are contained in the applicable operator's manual. Refer to Title 14 CFR Part 43 Appendix F for testing criteria. 10. Put the STDBY BATT switch to the OFF position. 11. Put the AVIONICS MASTER switches to the OFF position. 12.
