100ft to the summit of a Sea Stack off the Donegal Coast 300m back to the cliff top the remotest road end in Ireland
On this two day Sea Stack challenge adventure off the remote Donegal coastline, you will be surrounded by magical scenery, and enjoy the wild beauty only Ireland s Atlantic coastline offers. Visit An Port, a harbour at the most remote road end in Ireland and enjoy epic sights of sea stacks rearing up from the Atlantic Ocean off the coast line. Then, the challenge begins, as you descend the cliff to the water, paddle out on a raft to the base of the sea stack - a column of rock standing in the sea created after erosion of the cliffs - climb 100ft to the summit of the stack before traversing 300 back to the cliff top of the mainland.
Day 1 Saturday 10 th September Lunch & Dinner And we re off! 06:00 - Depart Dublin to travel to Donegal. 10:30 - There will be a brief refreshment stop at the hotel in Ardara before traveling on to An Port. 11:30 - In An Port we will meet the Unique Ascent Team and start our adventure. We will be surrounded by the stunning wild Donegal coastline which is truly something to behold. Ireland at its best even on a rough day! A packed lunch will be provided, and enjoyed with this amazing backdrop. Descend down the cliff face to the waters edge, where we will paddle out on a raft individually to the base of the sea stack. Day 1 continued After catching your breath, and taking in the view from the unique vantage point it will be time to get harnessed up again to begin the traverse back to the mainland cliff top. 18:00 - After we have all successfully climbed and traversed our way back onto solid ground we will return to Ardara for the evening to enjoy a celebratory meal and local hospitality. Day 2 - Sunday 11 th September Breakfast 11:00 - After breakfast we depart Donegal and return to Dublin, arriving back into the City late afternoon. From there we will start the 100ft technical climb to the summit of the sea stack.
What does it cost? The minimum fundraising target for this trip is 650. How do I fundraise? There are so many fun and creative ways to raise the funds. We are here to advise and assist throughout your fundraising journey, including; providing ideas, materials such as posters and buckets, and support on the day. How fit do I need to be? This challenge is marked moderate. Whilst no climbing experience is required prior to registering, our challenges are designed to be just that CHALLENGING! We advise you to increase your physical fitness with aerobic exercise prior to your trip. No swimming is required. What is the minimum age? All drinks - hot/cold, alcoholic/non-alcoholic Personal expenditure Tipping Please Note we endeavour to keep to our itinerary as much as possible, however, due to the nature of the trips there may be programme changes. The minimum age for this trip is 18. However, younger participants will be considered on application if climbing with a parent or guardian. Can I extend my stay? Yes. If you wish to extend your stay in Donegal this is entirely up to you. Any travel arrangements outside of those mentioned in itinerary will be at your own cost. Will I meet the Team before I go? Yes. We hold information evenings which are a great opportunity to meet the rest of the group this works well for those taking on the challenge on their own. You will also have regular contact and updates from the Plan International Ireland staff member that will be on your trip.
