PORTRAIT OF THE JOURNEY AMAZING BALLOON ADVENTURE AT SPITZBERGEN AMAZING BALLOON ADVENTURE AT SPITZBERGEN In March 2015, at the time of the total solar eclipse, an extremely rare event, we had some interesting guests who were very keen to rise up into the air in their hot air balloon. Those days were so uniquely successful that both we (from Spitzbergen Adventures AS) and our guests (Globus Kon-Tiki) decided to repeat the exercise the following year. Thus the idea of the program described in the following text was born. EXPERIENCE 5 AMAZING DAYS A small group of 6 persons will have 5 amazing days at Spitzbergen to experience the wonderful landscape and arctic atmosphere in a very unique way. We will target a balloon flight at different locations on each full day of the trip (i.e. excluding arrival and departure days). It goes without saying that this operation is, of course, quite weather dependent; but we are renowned for our ability to always offer a plan B, in other words to have an alternative activity & adventure ready for you in the event that ballooning becomes impracticable. 3
THE PROGRAM. DAY 01 THE ARRIVAL DAY You, our guest, will be picked up at the airport and driven to the hotel for your check-in. Once you are settled in we will start with a relaxed tour of the city and surroundings. This way we can arrive leisurely at our island and get the first feel of the arctic. Our tried and trusted city & surrounding sightseeing tour, which we also call our Explore Longyearbyen Package is a very fruitful tour on which you will learn a lot of background information about Spitsbergen, its history and the people living there. During a 4 course welcome dinner, later in the evening, we will have plenty of time to introduce the entire team which will accompany you during your stay and brief you about the coming days. 4
BALLOONING ACTION DAY 02 TO DAY 04 Those days will, of course, be dominated by our ballooning operations. In practice we will take a scenic snowmobile drive into the area of activity, while the crew will prepare the balloon for you. That means we are independent and can also explore the area. Two guests will each share one snowmobile, in order to maximize the freedom to drive and relax as needed or desired. As already mentioned we will aim for a balloon flight every day, weather conditions permitting. The evening of the second day will be a private time for everyone, in which you can plan your activities individually. At the end of day number three we will have a wonderful arctic barbeque which will be held in a so called Lavo, a big Sami style tent On our last full day, day number 4, we will have a summary & goodbye dinner all together. During this time, we can enjoy a résumé of the past few days adventures and exchange our views, photos and maybe also contact information. On top of this you will participate in a wine tasting at northern Europe s biggest wine cellar, to make sure that your virtual bag is really brimful of wonderfully valuable memories. 5
DEPARTURE DAY DAY 05 It s a matter of course that you, our valued guest, will be transported back to the airport and bid goodbye in the appropriate way. 6
