DAY 1 ADELAIDE KANGAROO ISLAND Important Information: Please note that you can only bring 15kg of luggage per passenger to Kangaroo Island. If you have more than 15kg per passenger you can store the excess luggage with your Adelaide accommodation (if you happen to stay at the same Accommodation upon your return from the Island) or you can store it with REX Regional Express, your carrier to Kangaroo Island, at their check in in Adelaide and collect it again on the way back from Kangaroo Island it will appear on the carousel / luggage collection together with your other luggage (for a fee). Transfer by Smart Car Australia from your City accommodation to the Adelaide Airport pick up time is usually between 0750hrs and 0810hrs. Your E tickets are available at the check-in upon acceptance of your photo ID. Your domestic flight departs Adelaide for Kangaroo Island at 0930hrs. Our representative Tour Guide will greet you at Kingscote Airport around about 1005hrs. Upon arrival, guests are given an orientation to Kangaroo Island, describing its history, layout and the forthcoming days Itinerary. One of the most important features of the Island is its wildlife in their natural habitats. Guests can hope to see Kangaroo Island Kangaroos, Koalas, Echidnas, Sea Lions, Tamar Wallabies, a variety of Bird life, Wildflowers and Eucalyptus forests. Each season offers something different. Visit Seal Bay home of the Australian Sea Lions, private properties where we take you off the beaten track to enjoy wildlife in the wild. Lunch is a gourmet picnic, arranged in the most suitable setting for the day in the bush with Koalas in the trees above, or by the sea. Overnight on the Island. DAY 2 KANGAROO ISLAND ADELAIDE The second day takes in more of the islands exciting wildlife experiences and highlights of the Island which includes Flinders Chase National Park 74,000 hectares of natural bushland and with the absence of rabbits and foxes, Kangaroo Island's environment is unique. It also features the spectacular rock formations of Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, created by erosion over millions of years. Guests will also be delighted by the antics of the New Zealand fur seals of the surrounding headlands. One of the last stops for the day is the habitat of the Kangaroo, where time is spent exploring their environment and enjoying the peace and tranquillity in the hope of seeing them come out to graze. Transfer to your domestic Aircraft which departs for Adelaide at 1830hrs. A 35 minute flight back to the Adelaide Airport follows, where you will be transferred to your City accommodation by Smart Car Australia. DAY 3 ADELAIDE MOUNT GAMBIER GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK HALLS GAP Smart Car Australia will transfer you from your City accommodation to the Adelaide Airport pick up time is usually around 0715hrs. Your domestic flight departs Adelaide for Mount Gambier at 0845hrs with REX Regional Express. Your E tickets are available at the check in upon acceptance of your photo ID. Luggage allowance is 20kg plus 7kg cabin luggage for International travellers excess luggage is charged at approximately AUD 7.70 per kilogram (not included). Flight arrives Mount Gambier Airport at 0955hrs. Our Tour Manager will meet you to start your 3 day sightseeing and adventure tour. A short tour of Mount Gambier includes the magnificent Blue Lake, a 5000 year old extinct volcano and some Lime stone formations, mother earth has created over millions of years. Departing Mount Gambier, we travel to (Gariwerd) the Grampians Mountains National Park. (Optional Coonawarra wine region detour is available). Lunch at one of many gourmet cafes en route. Upon arrival in the Grampians National Park, formed over 300 million years ago, we travel via the Serra and the Mount William ranges to Halls Gap. We explore some of the spectacular views Victoria has to offer Baroka and Reed s lookouts, plus hear stories of the Aboriginal culture. A chance to see Kangaroos, Wallabies and Emus in the wild. There are over 850 different wildflowers native to the Grampians. We suggest dinner at the Kookaburra Restaurant, where local produce and specialties are served. DAY 4 HALLS GAP GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK BALLARAT We leave the Grampians and travel through the foothills of the Mount William range, through Ararat founded by the Chinese gold miners, to historical Ballarat. A Ballarat City highlights tour includes, Lake Wendouree and the Botanic gardens, the Gold Shop where you may see gold nuggets found by local prospectors. Local Ballarat gold is 23.5 carat in its natural state, some of the purest gold in the world. We will step back in time, to the 1850 s and relive the exciting vibrant Gold rush Era at Sovereign Hill. You can try your luck panning for gold in the creek, ride the Cobb & Co coach around the township, see the craftsmen at their trades, Candle maker, Undertaker, Blacksmith, Tinsmith and the steam boilers driving the period gold mining machinery. Explore the underground mine, see the miners crushing the quartz in search for that elusive fortune, a 3 kilogram gold nugget being smelted and poured into ingots. Experience the exciting discovery of the Welcome Nugget, one of the largest gold nugget discoveries in the world at the Red Hill diggings. Lunch in Ballarat. An option in the evening Blood on the Southern Cross the sound and light show, telling the story of the Eureka rebellion in 1854 Australia's only civil uprising over gold mining licenses. DAY 5 BALLARAT GREAT OCEAN ROAD MELBOURNE We travel across the western plains, lakes and crater district to Port Campbell, on the Shipwreck Coast home of the famous 12 Apostles, London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge natural rock formations, stopping for many photo opportunities. Many sailing ships were wrecked in this region during the exciting gold rush and pioneering era. Hear stories about the heroes and heroines of this time. We continue travelling through the Otway National Park a temperate rainforest with giant Mountain Ash eucalyptus trees and ferns to the seaside towns of Apollo Bay, Lorne and Anglesea, the surging Surf Coast on the Great Ocean Road. A chance to see koalas, echidnas, kangaroos in their natural habitat. Lunch is at one of many gourmet cafes en route. Arrive in Melbourne via Geelong late afternoon where we will be transferring you to your City accommodation.
