ITINERARY DAY 1: PUNTA ARENAS Arriving in Punta Arenas today, you will be welcomed by the cruise staff and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon there will be a briefing about the cruise ahead, after which you will invited to a 'meet and greet' dinner. (D) DAY 2: PUNTA ARENAS - SOUTH SHETLANDS ISLANDS Your adventure begins with a two hour flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island, the largest of the South Shetland Islands. Lying some 120 kilometres from the coast of Antartica, on arrival you'll experience the clear Antarctic air for the first time. There will be a chance to explore the area surrounding the Chilean and Russian research stations of Frei and Belingshausen, before boarding a zodiac and embarking your expedition vessel. (B,L,D) DAY 3: ANTARCTIC PENINSULA Cruising between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, you'll sail through a landscape of ice-filled fjords and spectacular icebergs, accompanied along the way by the rich diversity of Antarctica's wildlife. There will be daily excursions by zodiac in the company of an expert polar guide, whilst a range of informative on board lectures and presentations will help to bring this breathtaking landscape to life. DAY 7: SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS - PUNTA ARENAS Returning to King George Island today, you'll bid a fond farewell to Antarctica, before boarding the flight back to Punta Arenas.
