The airport experienced positive passenger growth for the 36th consecutive month with respect to the year over year monthly increases. During the first five months of 2018, RNO served 1,636,131 passengers, an increase of 5.9% when compared to the same period last year. In May 2018, RNO was served by nine airlines providing 1,901 departures to 19 nonstop destinations (23 nonstop destinations if seasonal flights are included). At RNO, total seat capacity increased 6.4% and flights increased 9.4% when compared to May 2017. RNO, handled 12,245,815 pounds of air cargo in May 2018, a decrease of 3.4% when compared to May 2017. During the first five months of 2018, RNO handled 59,338,252 pounds of air cargo, a decrease of 5.8% when compared to the same period last year. On April 10, 2018, Frontier Airlines began nonstop flights between Reno and Austin, Texas. The new flight will operate twice a week, Tuesday and Friday, on a 180seat Airbus 320 aircraft. Starting November 16, 2018, Sun Country Airlines will begin nonstop flights between Reno and Portland, Oregon. This flight will operate on Mondays and Fridays on Boeing 737 aircraft. Currently, this route is being served by Alaska Airlines.

In May 2018, American Airlines reported a passenger increase of 14.6% and Delta Air Lines was up 12.2% versus May 2017. Volaris passenger traffic was down 37.2%, Alaska Airlines was down 8.8%, JetBlue Airways was down 5.7%, United Airlines was down 5.3% and Allegiant Air reported a decrease of 3.8% during the same period. FedEx was down 8.0% and UPS reported a decrease of 0.4% during the same period.

Recent and Upcoming Schedule Changes American Airlines Starting May 5, 2018, American Airlines increased the number of daily flights between Reno and Dallas from twice a day to three times a day (certain days of week). This flight returns to the twice a day schedule on August 22, 2018. Delta Air Lines Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Atlanta was temporarily suspended on April 2, 2018. This flight will return on December 21, 2018, for the 2018/2019 ski season. Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Minneapolis will operate from June 9, 2018, until August 25, 2018. This flight will operate on Saturdays only. Frontier Airlines Frontier Airlines nonstop flight between Reno and Austin operates on Tuesdays and Fridays. Frontier Airlines nonstop flight between Reno and Denver operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. United Airlines United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Houston was temporarily suspended on April 9, 2018. This flight will return on June 30, 2018, as a weekend service. United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Chicago O Hare was temporarily suspended on April 1, 2018. This flight returned on June 7, 2018, as a daily service. Starting April 9, 2018, United Airlines increased the number of daily flights between Reno and Los Angeles from one flight a day to twice a day. The airline increased this service to three times a day, starting June 7, 2018. Southwest Airlines Southwest Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Dallas Love Field was temporarily suspended on April 7, 2018. This flight returned on June 9, 2018, as a Saturday/Sunday service. Volaris The nonstop flight between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico operates on Mondays and Fridays.
