Dear Summer Adventure Camp Parents, Thank you for signing your child up for our Summer Adventure Camp! The camp counselors and I are very excited for all of the fun activities planned for the summer. Our mission at Adventure Camp is to have a positive impact on each camper through active games, creative art work, creating new friendships, and learning. We genuinely hope your child s experience at camp is one that will create many lasting memories. The vision of Summer Adventure Camp is to provide opportunities our youth can discover many activities they love! We create an environment where campers are constantly learning new things, maintaining a safe and fun environment. We have a wide variety of programming happening this summer at Adventure Camp ranging from: themed weekly activities, sports, field trips, connecting with nature, learning about nutrition, yoga, swimming, arts and crafts and much more! As they run, laugh, smile, and play, it is our hope that campers will learn to cherish every moment! Enclosed in this packet you will find all necessary information to ensure your child s enjoyment and safety. GENERAL CAMP OVERVIEW Age: 5-12 Price: Daily Option Weekly Option 6 hours or less $20 $90 6 hours or more $25 $115 Dates: Week 1: June 11 - June 15 Welcome to Summer! Week 2: June 18 - June 22 Get Outdoors/Go Green! Week 3: June 25 - June 29 Campers Got Talent! Week 4: July 2 - July 6* Local Heroes! *(no camp Wednesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day) Week 5: July 9 - July 13 Spirit! Week 6: July 16 - July 20 Wet & Wild! Week 7: July 23 - July 27 Science! Week 8: July 30 - Aug 3 Space Explorers! Week 9: Aug 6 - Aug 10 End Summer with a Bang! DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES: For a full 6-hour day of camp, typically the recommended drop off time is between 8:45AM-9:00AM. The recommended pick up time is 3:00PM. Other arrangements will need to be made if those times are not possible for you for the reason that campers will not always be in the same location. Tuesday & Thursday pickup will be at the pool at 3:00PM. If you would like to drop your child off earlier than 8:45AM, or pick them up later than 3:00PM, you will need to pay the early drop late pick up fee. Otherwise, if you are late more than 5 minutes in picking up your camper you will be charged a $5 late fee. EARLY DROP/LATE PICK UP FEE: If you need to drop your camper off early, or pick them up late, you need to pay the extended camp fee for going over six hours. Daily: $5 Weekly: $25 DROP OFF/PICK UP POLICY: Adventure Camp is very dedicated to safety of our campers. We require parents to walk your child inside every morning to sign him or her in. We also require parents to come inside to sign him or her out each afternoon. Any person picking up your child other than a parent/guardian needs to be authorized in writing ahead of time by the parent/guardian. That person will also need to present a photo ID. PAYMENT: Payment for each week is due before the first day of each camp week. Failure to pay may result in the removal of the camper from camp. EMERGENCY CARD/WAIVERS: Campers cannot attend camp until the parent/guardian has filled out the emergency information card, permission to treat form, and liability waiver. In addition, we also are asking you to fill out the permission slips regarding sunscreen, over the counter medication, PG movies, and permission to photograph. 4

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP: We recommend campers to bring the following: Backpack Sunscreen with his or her name on it Clothes that may get wet/dirty Closed toed shoes Hat Water bottle with his or her name on it Snack Personal belongings should all have names on them and recommend a bag to carry them in. POOL DAYS: TUE & THU Please bring sunscreen, a bathing suit and a towel. Life vests are provided if needed. If you prefer your child brings his or her own, they must be Coast Guard approved. SNACKS/MEALS: Breakfast and lunch will be provided by the TUSD Summer Meals Program. Your child may bring his or her own lunch if preferred. Snacks are not provided in the meals program and will need to be provided if necessary. FACILITIES: Summer Adventure Camp will be located at the Stephen Shy Center, located at 311 West D Street Tehachapi, CA 93561. Campers will also go to neighboring facilities during the course of the week, including: West Park - 490 West D Street Aspen Builders Inc. Center (West Park Gym) - 410 West D Street Ollie Mountain Skate Park - 410 West D Street Dye Natatorium (Pool) - 400-B South Snyder Philip Marx Central Park Mojave and E Street JUNIOR CAMP LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: The Junior Camp Leadership program is for ages 13-14. Campers who sign up for this program will be expected to be role models for the younger campers. They will assist in games, activities, and other assigned duties given to them by their supervised counselor. We find campers gain valuable, early job and resume experience, while having a great time participating in camp. ADULT TO CAMPER RATIO: Camp counselor to camper ratio will never be higher than 10 to 1. The ratio will frequently be 7 or 8 to 1. CAMP EXTRAS: Campers will participate in yoga meditation. Campers will also learn about food nutrition. Once a week, campers will have an opportunity to visit the library during rest hour. Campers will frequently walk to ABIAC at West Park. During this time any camper who would prefer to go to the skate park and has proper equipment (will be locked in the gym when not using) may use the skate park under Camp Counselor supervision. All students will be going to the pool on Tue & Thu. Pick up that day will be at the pool for regular campers. 5

WEEK 1: June 11-15 Welcome to Summer! Campers will have a blast welcoming summer with engaging fun activities all day long. We will be doing summer crafts, playing outdoor sports, swimming, and learning about healthy habits. The campers will be welcoming new friendships that will last all summer. Friday: Incredibles 2 Field trip Permission slip and money will be due Wednesday Cost is TBA. WEEK 2: June 18-22 Get Outdoors/Go Green! We believe it s more important than ever to teach children the importance of going green. By helping instill a sense of pride in being eco-friendly, kids can learn at a young age to actively protect our planet. Campers will explore the natural environment and engage in activities in the sciences and arts that reinforce each day s message such as planting trees, making art with recycled materials. Campers can also come up with new ways to do everyday things that teaches sustainability. Friday: Rush Air Sports! Field trip Permission slip and money will be due Wednesday Cost is TBA. 7

WEEK 3: June 25-29: Campers Got Talent! We want to give each camper the opportunity to express their creative side in groups or individually in a comfortable environment. This week will be packed with creative games, rehearsal times and opportunities to shine! Each age group will be working on a short performance with their Camp Counselors to perform at the end of the week Talent Show! Students are not required to perform and can show their talent behind the scenes. We cannot wait to see all the Talent! Friday: Talent Show for Campers WEEK 4: July 2-6 Heroes!* It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a SUPER Camper! Show us your super powers while we explore our local heroes and learn how to be a real-life hero every day. Costumes encouraged on Friday! Who s your hero? *No camp on Wed. WEEK 5: July 9-13 SPIRIT! Show us your camp spirit!! Each day will be a different chance to express your individual style. A new theme each day leaves room for endless creativity! Monday: Nerd Day! Haven t you heard? Nerdy is the new cool! Tuesday: Tourist/ Tacky Tuesday! Spend the day as a tourist playing games from all over the world! Wednesday: How wacky can you get with your socks? Show us on Wacky Socks Wednesday! Thursday: Everybody loves a good throwback! Dress up as your favorite decade! Who had a poodle skirt or maybe a pair of bell bottoms? Show us your decade on Throwback Thursday! Campers will be going back in time and playing old school games all day long! Friday: Camp Spirit Day! Wear your camp shirt and be prepared for the ultimate camp games! Friday: Movies Hotel Transylvania 3 Field trip Permission slip and money will be due Wednesday Cost is TBA. WEEK 6: July 16-20 Wet & Wild! Campers will have a blast participating in wet, wild, and wacky activities including water fights, water relays, water balloon toss, and a wet n wild field trip! Friday: Dry Town Water Park Field trip Permission slip and money will be due Wednesday Cost is TBA. Sun screen will be needed all week. Departure and Arrive time for field trip TBA. 9

WEEK 7: July 23-27 Science! Have you ever had the urge to mix a concoction or invent the next big thing? This is your chance to work with other budding scientists and put your brain to the test. We will have science demonstrations and be able to work on own projects. All with the help of science professionals. We will also be playing our active camp games and creating works of art. Friday: Science Demonstration WEEK 8: July 30-August 5 Space Explorers! Explore the Sunny Solar System, Sparkling Stars, Plenty of Planets and the all-important Rocket Power. The importance of Space Exploration to us Earthlings. With hands-on experiments, lots of games, interaction and a blast off finale, this week is sure to be Out of This World! Friday: California Science Center Presents Astro Adventures Field trip Permission slip and money will be due Wednesday Cost is TBA. 10

WEEK 9: August 8-12 End Summer with A Bang! If only Summer Camp would never end! Say good-bye to summer and hello to the school year during this final week at camp. We will relive our favorite memories and make some final ones. Our last day at camp will end with a bang at our goodbye summer party. All campers who participated in any weeks at camp will be welcome to come say goodbye to friends and dance the rest of summer away. Friday: Goodbye Summer Party, details TBA 11
