INSIDE PASSAGE CRUISING You ll sail beyond the Inside Passage into the more protected Alaska Inside Passage. Home to diverse wildlife orca, mountain goats, bald eagles, bears, puffins, sea otters and more the complete layrinth of fjords and bays where whales and sea lions find refuge during the summer months. You ll never forget the sight of 40-tonne whales hurling themselves into the air, almost completely escaping the water. If you re especially lucky, you could see them swimming together to create a bubble net, trapping and eating fish by the giant mouthful. JUNEAU Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Juneau is the place to let your imagination run wild. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest. Visit the rustic shops in town or get out and kayak, dogsled, raft, hike, whale watch, flightsee or fish. There is no end to the adventure because of the long daylight hours. Climb aboard the Mt. Roberts Tramway for a great spot to hike and shoot a souvenir photo. SKAGWAY Skagway was the gateway to the gold fields for the thousands who flocked to Alaska and the Yukon with the hope of striking it rich. Skagway may have boasted the shortest route to the Klondike, but it wasn t the easiest. Over 100 years ago, the White Pass route through the Coast Mountains and the shorter but steeper Chilkoot Trail were used by countless stampeders. Many a would-be miner perished on the treacherous Chilkoot Trail.

& PANORAMA The gold rush was a boon and by 1898, Skagway was Alaska s largest town with a population of about 20,000. Hotels, saloons, dance halls and gambling houses prospered. But when the gold yield dwindled in 1900, so did the population as miners quickly shifted to new finds in Nome. Today, Skagway has less than 1,000 residents. It still retains the flavor of the gold rush era. GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK MS Nieuw Amsterdam is one of a select few cruise lines permitted to cruise the pristine waters of Glacier Bay, the highlight of our 7-day Voyage of the Glaciers cruise. Just west of Juneau, this breathtaking national park and preserve boasts some of the world s most spectacular tidewater glaciers, such as Margerie Glacier, which often drops colossal chunks of ice into the sea. Not surprisingly, Glacier Bay National Park and its epic ice giants are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising Alaska s magnificent park system. During your scenic cruise, friendly Park Rangers will join the ship to share their knowledge of this amazing place and host a fun Junior Ranger program for kids. They may even be able to help you identify Glacier Bay s abundant wildlife, including humpback whales, sea otters, porpoises, harbor seals, black bears, mountain goats, bald eagles and large colonies of seabirds. Take in the awe-inspiring scenery as you enjoy an unforgettable day of sailing through this dazzling park, where you ll glide along emerald waters.

& PANORAMA KETCHIKAN Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains with a cheerful air. Besides the main attractions Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village, try a flightseeing trip to breathtaking Misty Fjords National Monument a transformational adventure not to be missed. These deep water fjords left by retreating glaciers left granite cliffs towering thousands of feet above the sea and countless waterfalls cascading into placid waters. The souvenir photos you ll take from the pontoons of the plane are worth the trip alone. Day 16-26 May 2018 Vancouver (B) After disembarkation, proceed on a tour of North Vancouver. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Vancouver s spectacular North Shore. Travel across the Lions Gate Bridge and into the Coast Mountains. Experience the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Adventure, discovering the coastal temperate rainforest and British Columbia s First Nations heritage. Next, visit Grouse Mountain (gondola admission included), the Peak of Vancouver, and take in breathtaking views of the city, ocean, and surrounding mountains. Overnight at Vancouver Sheraton Wall Centre in a traditional room. Day 17-27 May 2018 Howe Sound (B) Operated by Sewell s Marina, the 2-hour Sea Safari Circle tour of Howe Sound will take you on an amazing adventure to bird sanctuaries, harbour seal rookeries, sea caves and finish off with city views. With an experienced guide at the helm you won t miss a thing. It is recommended to layer up for the day and bring along your camera, sunscreen and sunglasses for this tour. Please note that this tour is not suitable for people who are pregnant or have a history of back problems. The Sea Safari Circle Tour is shared with other travellers. Overnight at Vancouver Sheraton Wall Centre in a traditional room. Day 18-28 May 2018 Depart Vancouver (B) Your tour ends today after breakfast. If your departure flight is not until late this evening, the day is yours to further enjoy at leisure in Vancouver.
