Welcome to the Grand Strand Fall Motorcycle Event! All of the merchants represented in this flyer would like to thank you and want to encourage you to keep on attending the Rallies, and to patronize the businesses that support the Rallies. There has been a move in the Grand Strand Resort Area towards a ban on motorcycle rally events, initiated by Horry County, the City of Myrtle Beach and the City of North Myrtle Beach. The area Chambers of Commerce (Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach) adversely have found that the communities affected overwhelmingly support the motorcycle rallies. Over 60 percent of people said the community should work with the bikers. It seems this is yet another instance of lack of communication between the government bureaucracies and the taxpayer. Our communities need the revenue & the employment brought in by the Motorcycle Events for the past 68 years. Over $100 million is brought in annually by these events alone. In these financially precarious times, we need to encourage all tourism of, not drive it away by passing ordinance after ordinance that limit our constitutional privileges. Ask Daytona Beach Florida how the merchants suffered when they drove away spring tourism almost 2 decades ago. Our merchants need the cash infusion, & our citizens need the employment created by these special events. This November, make your vote count for our local communities. Vote pro-biker local council members & mayors. We won t go down without a fight! It is very important, please tell every advertiser that you saw them in the Pocket Guide. We are available online at www.bikerpocketguide.com and available prior to the Event so you can see what is happening before you leave your home to come here. You can actually plan on what you want to do during your stay in Myrtle Beach. Isn t that cool! In closing - my usual speech. Don t be draggin down 17 revving your pipes, cause you ll get a ticket and free room and board. If you ve had too much to drink, park your bike and get a taxi home. Think before you drink. Don t leave your drinks unattended. It s not the bartenders job to babysit your drinks. Take care of your bartenders and servers. They work real hard to make your vacation unforgettable. Have a safe Motorcycle Event. Remember rubber side down, shiny side up. Lots of love to Ronnie and Robin! ~ Ron Martin SOUVENIR BIKER'S POCKET GUIDE FOR GRAND STRAND MOTORCYCLE EVENT 2008 This list of events is compiled from various sources and all dates and times are tentative and subject to change.
