We will be leaving Saturday morning at 7:45 with lunch in Sonoita and dining at Café Roca in Bisbee. Rooms at the Canyon Rose Suites, 520-432-5098, have been set aside, but if they are full, there are plenty of other places to stay. Plan on making this fun trip. See website for more details.
Presidential Bondo (All the Filler Fit to Print) Thanks to Rick Mahrle for organizing the Breakfast Run to the cool country. We went to Christopher Creek's Creekside Steakhouse and Tavern for what all agreed was a wonderful breakfast. See the event article in this issue for more details. The club has five more events planned through to the end of this year including the Lunch Tour, Bisbee Overnight Tour, Alpine Overnight Tour, Progressive Dinner, and the Mystery Breakfast Run. Joseph Frischknecht, alpha72@cox.net, has planned the lunch tour for Saturday, September 15 and he will be posting more instructions soon on the calendar. Bill Greenslade, bgreenslade@cox.net, has planned the Bisbee Overnight Tour and all of the information is on the calendar. You need to make your reservations soon and let Bill know if you are planning on attending this event. "Changing of the Leaves" and mountain road gymkhana, sort of, Alpine Overnight Tour, is on begins on Saturday, October 20. I am organizing this event, mlkrandom@cox.net, so let me know if you are planning on attending. This is our annual tour to Alpine, Arizona and our stay at the Tal-Wi-Wi lodge. Last year Tal-Wi-Wi was closed for remodeling and we did an alternate tour. This year they are back in business and we have five rooms set aside for us until the first of October. There may be some rooms available after this date, but don't count on it. Not last and certainly not least is our Progressive Dinner on November 17. I am organizing this event and need two more volunteers for stops for the appetizers, main course, or dessert. We have one stop offered and they are willing to provide for any of these courses. If you would like to offer your home for a course please contact me, 602 377 3213, and if we have not already filled the opening you will get one. Also, remember that other club members always volunteer to help provide supplies for your course. On December 1, we will have the Mystery Breakfast Run, organized by Jill and Richard. Last year we ended up in Cave Creek. This event is a great way to start off December and it is lots of fun trying to guess the destination. Ciao, Mark Active Rumors/Notes from the Editor That will be 13 for breakfast, please, four Alfas, two Fiats and an assortment of other vehicles. That is what the crowd looked like for the August breakfast run up the Beeline Highway. The weather was great as we headed out of Fountain Hills just a few minutes past the appointed time. Not bad for our club. It was some sailing for all as we traversed from the cactus studded desert into the pine country at the bottom of the Mogollon Rim. For the last several years, we have been going to Kohl s Ranch for breakfast, but we went about ten minutes further down the road to the Creekside Steakhouse and Tavern, where we were treated quite well. We had a nice room all
to ourselves and everyone seemed to have a good time. YOUR AD HERE Classified ads for Alfas and Alfa parts are still free for members. Just email your ad and any photos to me at rmahrle@gblaw.com. Classifieds Rick Mahrle s 1969 Spider on the August Breakfast Run in Christopher Creek. Photo by Rick Mahrle Of course, the trip back home was a little on the hot side as it was in the 90s by the time most of us got back to the Valley. It was reported to me that some of our crew who came back later in the day ran into very heavy wind and rain, but at least those who came back right after breakfast had a clear trip home. For those of you who might be interested, there will be a classic car show to benefit The Foundation for Blind Children of Phoenix. It will be on October 14 at Heritage Square 7 th Street & Adams. The show will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This car show is sponsored by the Knight of Pythias, Phoenix Lodge and will be different with judging by young sight impaired adults (using cotton gloves). The judging will be for the Coolest Car in the eyes of these special people. Contact Ernie Shack at eshack143@yahoo.com for details. Entry fees are $25 before October 1 and $35 after October 1 with a deadline of October 6. This might be fun and it certainly benefits a worthwhile cause. Rick Mahrle FOR SALE: 1973 Alfa Romeo Spider.
