This year MMS celebrates 25 years in business. It is my pleasure to present MMS to potential new customers and thank our existing customers. MMS was established in 1988, on the then disused Alexandra Dock, Hull. The company, originally Mobile Marine Services, formed with a workforce of two (including myself), to provide a mobile repair and maintenance service to ships around the UK. The intention was to build a reputation on offering a reliable, professional service with competitive prices. By 1993, the workforce had grown to twenty employees, resulting in MMS being able to offer an increased range of services. MMS was supporting local shipping companies, working mainly on what was left of Hull s fishing fleet, coastal vessels and service craft used for bunkering and towage. During this period, Alexandra Dock reopened to shipping and the opportunity to lease the two dry docks and workshops presented itself. MMS negotiated a forty year lease with the port authority and consequently MMS Ship Repair & Dry Dock Co Ltd was formed. The opportunity to recommission the dry docks brought about an investment of several million pounds over the following years, which aided the development of the company and its infrastructure. This has resulted in MMS being able to offer a first class ship repair and workboat building facility. After 25 years, our aims still remain the same; to offer customers a safe, professional service at highly competitive prices. Rob Langton Managing Director, MMS S H MMS.
