OUR STORY
History As the founder of The Fersam International Group, established in 1982, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and how I started in the aviation business. After completing my aeronautical engineering course at Chelsea College, London, I was given the opportunity of employment with Sir Freddie Laker, MD of British United. Several mergers took place during my 25 years of employment and as I had now reached my final position as senior engineer/junior management with British Airways, I decided to further my career in the commercial aspect of independent aviation trading. With all the experience accumulated over the years, I decided to form a trading company dealing with aircraft components. After meeting my wife Patricia, who was employed by British Caledonian, she decided to join me in the initial support in handling of administration and accounting within my new company. As we both worked for the mutual airlines, we overcame various obstacles to achieve a successful business. With the assistance of our two children, Julian and Samantha, both university students in Amsterdam, who joined our company at a later date, and have since become an essential asset to our growing business. The Fersam International group has expanded to consist of many subsidiaries, including Touchdown Aviation, (TDA), which is now a respectful and professional organization in the aviation industry worldwide. All employees are involved in the entire process, from purchasing to accounting, as well as logistics and quality control, which ensures a smooth and efficient communication across all levels of the organization. The use of modern technology has allowed TDA to reduce the distance between their four offices and feel as one regional office to customers worldwide. All employees work together in the informal, pleasant and above all trusted environment, whilst maintaining professionalism, which their customers have greatly appreciated for over 30 years. TDA excels in quality by operating an ISO Quality Assurance program, as well as being a member of all relevant aviation organizations, such as ASA & EASO. Over the years TDA has increased their inventory consigned by various major airlines and repair stations. Known as TDA Consignment Care, TDA assists in gaining maximum results from excess stock with minimum concern to the consignor. TDA can convert cost-driving surplus inventories into strong monthly revenues, offering benefits, such as 24/7 free-of-charge recalls, open-door policy for audits and monthly sales reports as well as payments.
future TDA is a fast-growing company, planning to build new state-of-the-art facilities in The Netherlands, as well as in the UK and USA. The new headquarters will be double the size of the current facility, being equipped with the latest technology and, above all, designed for maximum production and energy efficiency. This will be achieved by the use of solar panels, non-freon air conditioning systems, CO2 reducing facades, the use of wind generators and much more. Through the building developments around the world, TDA will be able to attract even more inventory to support its current list of customers. TDA has been approached by several OEM s to discuss the possibilities of entering into partnerships and being able to shorten lead-times significantly and increase the production of OEM products. Being Europe s largest in wheels and brakes, TDA will be offering complete, cost-effective, support programs through attractive loan/lease and exchange possibilities. With many teardowns planned, TDA will expand their existing stock to keep supporting its valued customer base and adding more satisfied customers to it.
