MV Fram Hurtigruten s expedition ship FRAM was launched in 2007 with the aim to bring her guests closer to nature, wildlife and unforgettable experiences. She s large enough to provide stability, ample public space and comfortable accommodations, and yet small enough to sail in remote areas and get you close to the action. FRAM generally carries less than 250 guests, so you are sure to get to know many of your fellow travellers. Observation Lounge At the top of the ship, the Panorama Lounge has floor-toceiling windows, giving you incredible views. Restaurant The restaurant is located at the aft of the ship, and on your way there you walk through an exhibition of original artifacts from the historic polar expeditions of Amundsen and Nansen. Outside Decks Spacious outside decks include access to the very front of the ship, a great place to observe marine wildlife. Cabins Cabins all have private facilities with shower, washbasin and WC, refrigerator and room safe. As a general rule, outside accommodations on the higher decks have a picture window while those on lower decks have large round windows. Resident Lecturers You ll sail with a dedicated, passionate and knowledgeable expedition team. Facilities A 24-hour tea and coffee station, library, lecture rooms, gym, sauna, and heated Jacuzzis complete the picture. Alternatively take the whole day and explore... perhaps a visit to the Empire State Building, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square or Grand Central Terminal? We ll circulate some ideas well in advance, and we can even book tickets if you fancy seeing a Broadway show. Mon 16 Apr Newport, Rhode Island Founded in 1639, Newport, Rhode Island is considered one of the gems of New England. It s famous for century-old mansion houses and a stunning coastline. Join us on a must do legendary cliff walk, or explore the distinctive shopping opportunities, from antiques to fashion, footwear to original art. Tue 17 Apr Boston, Massachusetts A full-day in town. Boston has a wealth of museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the State House, and the oldest commissioned warship in the world, the USS Constitution. There is also a variety of free walks and trails throughout the city. Optional tours today include an Old Town Trolley Ride, and Skyline View Kayaking!
Wed 18 Apr Rockland, Maine Alongside the clear blue waters of Penobscot Bay, the town of Rockland boasts a classic working harbour, home to the area s largest windjammer fleet and also the nation s most famous lighthouse museum. Join an optional tour to nearby Camden Hill State Recreational Park this morning, or take a stroll with the Furlongs team through the historic downtown district. FRAM sets sail after lunch, bound for the town of Bucksport. Thu 19 Apr Bucksport Nestled at the meeting point of the Penobscot River and Penobscot Bay, Bucksport has a mile-long waterfront walkway, complete with the town s old railroad station that now houses the local Historical Society. Free time today to explore the town, or you may care to join an optional canoe trip on one of the picturesque Lakes of Maine. Fri 20 Apr Bar Harbor Located on Mount Desert Island, alongside Maine s Frenchman Bay, Bar Harbor is the gateway to the beautiful landscapes of Acadia National Park, a 47,000 acre coast recreation area marked by woodland, rocky beaches and granite peaks - including Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the United States East Coast. Optional tours today include a sunrise trip to Cadillac Mountain and a day-tour into Acadia National Park. Sat 21 Apr Expedition Day We ll sail from Maine to explore the rugged coastline of Nova Scotia, accompanied by our on-board expedition team. Keep a look-out for marine mammals and birds, including the Double- Crested Cormorant, Atlantic Puffin, Bald Eagle, and the provincial bird of Nova Scotia, the Osprey. Sun 22 Apr Halifax, Nova Scotia Passing Peggy s Cove en-route, we re scheduled to sail into Halifax around midday. The provincial capital of Nova Scotia is well-known for its maritime connections, and you re invited to join our escorted walk of Halifax s Historic Properties along the famous waterfront. Plenty of free time, too, to explore the famous Citadel, do some shopping, and enjoy some lunch. Lobster, anyone? Later, we ll gather for a transfer to Halifax Airport and our evening flight departure.
