Other Recreation Facilities Cinder Creek The association s Cinder Creek Pavilion is a charmingly rustic lodge tucked away in the preserve, off Blue Heron Pond Road on the eastern part of Kiawah. With its canopy of trees and gorgeous views of the creek, it is truly one of the most breathtaking spots on Kiawah. Open to the air but screened all around, the cottage has a large woodburning fireplace to make brisk evenings cozy. Rhett s Bluff In the waning sunlight, gulls and skimmers swoop down at the water s surface in the day s last fishing attempt. Wading birds stroll majestically in the shallows. Dolphin fins dot the waterway and spartina grass waves in the slight breeze. Welcome to Rhett s Bluff. Rhett s Bluff is home to one of the island s boat landings. A two-lane ramp and floating dock makes launching a boat (up to 30 in length, including trailer) quick and easy, whether you are planning to fish, bask in the sun or sightsee. 8
Other Recreation Facilities Launch Access KICA members have access to the Rhett s Bluff and Eagle Point boat launch, and the Cinder Creek canoe/kayak launch. Boat launch and canoe/kayak storage are available via yearly contracts, which may be obtained at the Sandcastle during normal operating hours (see Page 3 for hours and contact info). Daily boat launch passes may also be purchased at the Sandcastle Community Center, along with a key which operates the gate at Eagle Point and restrooms at Cinder Creek and Rhett s Bluff. Facility Rentals The Sandcastle second floor event rooms, pool pavilion/deck (off-season), Rhett s Bluff and Cinder Creek pavilions are available for private event rental by members and their guests. The Sandcastle event rooms and pool area both have access to full-service kitchens. Many Preferential Pricing vendors (see Page 7) specialize in event services, and Sandcastle event staff will be happy to provide a list of these vendors for your reference.
