The Haven Ipoh The Haven Ipoh is an exclusive retreat, nestled into the pristine hills and mountains of the Kinta Valley near Ipoh City. 200km north of Kuala Lumpur, in the centre of the Perak region, this remote location provides excellent accessibility, whilst not compromising on quiet spaces and gentle beauty. The surrounding hills are more than 280 million years old, and show their age in a craggy, rugged exterior. The nearby city, Ipoh, houses a wide range of colonial, traditional and modern architectural features. The colonial style train station, opened in 1917, was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, and includes a large park in Ipoh Station Square. In the newer part if the city, a flowing Japanese garden and carp pond are located in the D. R. Seenivasagam Park. The resort consists of 512 condominiums spread over three, 26-storey towers that sit comfortably within their natural environment. These residences are available for guests to use for long weekends, weeks at a time or even longer, and can also be bought for permanent use. The Haven Ipoh is a lake-side paradise, facing into its own private corner of green forest, with a curving blue swimming pool, melting into the clear lake that backs onto the mountain side. Local Interests Ipoh is an area of wonderful natural beauty, and also some great sights. The Kek Lok Tong Cave Temples are a fantastic day out, used since the 1920s as a place of worship. In the 60s, the cave was expanded in an iron mining effort, and then once again became a place of great spiritual significance to those living in the local area. Located about five km south of Ipoh city, the caves and the Zen gardens around them provide a unique perspective on local history, worship and spirituality. There are also other fascinating caves worth exploring. The Ipoh Heritage Walk is another cultural favourite in the area, and involves a guided tour around the old colonial buildings in Ipoh, the art and sculptures created over the years and also the newer pieces of modern architecture that blend themselves beautifully well with the old town. There are also many wall murals created that highlight the culture, people and loves of the local people. The Lost World of Tambun Theme Park is definitely worth visiting if guests have a spare day to enjoy. This vast entertainment park has thrilling rides, eco-adventures, historical artefacts and animals. It is a great day to bring children to, and they will be amazed by the petting zoos, where they can interact with rabbits, racoons, turtles and tortoises, peacocks, marmosets, snakes and parrots. The Rain Forest Trail will bring you into a noisy world of looming canopies and swirling animal movement. The Serpentarium will introduce you to some of the most iconic snakes in the world, and take away some of the fear and misconceptions associated with them. The Marmoset Tree House will show you these squirrel sized monkeys interacting playfully with each other, and in the Bird Paradise section you can greet more than 500 birds from 18 different species, all in their own natural habitats.
