Late in 1907, after less than 2 intense years in, she became convinced that she was terminally ill and moved to Italy to die. That didn t come off. She recovered and drifted back to through England and New York, arriving in 1913, She was always a storm center and departed finally in 1924 to Santa Fe where she ended her days. She requested the incident be documented due to its suspicious nature. Valley: Two subjects at the Cachagua General Store were involved in an argument in which they poked each other in the chest. None of the parties involved desired prosecution. Case suspended. Valley: Resident reported receiving harassing phone calls from an ex-boyfriend. area: Someone stole items from the SPCA benefit shop at Rancho Center. area: Mission Fields home was involved in a fire. Valley: Man reported his credit card number had been used to make a fraudulent charge of $1,400. No suspect information. Valley: Woman reported her locked vehicle was broken into via window smash on Dec. 4, 2011, between 1315 and 1415 hours. Purse and miscellaneous items were taken. Several items were later found on Valley Road at the 21-mile marker by an unknown person and left at her residence. Valley: Resident reported being harassed by his landlord. FRIDAY, JANUARY 27 -by-the-sea: A subject residing out of state contacted the police department requesting assistance and information in regard to a civil matter with a business on San Carlos Street. -by-the-sea: Patrol responded to a barking dog complaint on Third Avenue. The dog was located; however, no owner was at home. A courtesy notice was left at the front door. Followup conducted by animal control, and the dog owner was contacted and advised of the complaint. Possible solutions were discussed and a warning given. -by-the-sea: Credit card belonging to a staff member of a local school was found in the roadway and turned over to the fire station. Property turned over to P.D. for safekeeping pending return to owner. Call received from cardholder advising that the card has been canceled and requesting that officers destroy the credit card. -by-the-sea: A 49-year-old female was arrested on San Carlos Street for public intoxication and lodged at county jail. Pacific Grove: A 39-year-old male was arrested at CHOMP after an intoxication medical emergency. Pacific Grove: Dispatched to a report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle on Eardley. Owners stated he forgot to lock the doors. Pacific Grove: Spruce Avenue resident reported having problems with her ex-husband; inquiry concerning civil restraining order and family court. Information only. Valley: Man reported an incident of identity theft that occurred in March 2011. Another individual used his credit union account number to make an electronic payment to JC Penney. Case continues with Colton Police Department. area: Woman reported an Apple itouch was taken from her vehicle while it was being serviced. Loss estimated at $220. SATURDAY, JANUARY 28 -by-the-sea: Traffic collision, hit and run on Rio Road. Vehicle towed. -by-the-sea: Cell phone found on o Street in the residential area and turned over to P.D. for safekeeping pending return to owner. Pebble Beach: Woman on Sunridge had been contacted by a person claiming she had won $2.5 million. The suspect was able to convince the victim to wire transfer a sum of money to pay the fee for having won the money. The victim did wire transfer the money, but she did not receive her winnings. The suspect was based out of Jamaica. The crime was documented. -by-the-sea: Past-tense violation of a restraining order on Junipero. Overheard... See LOG page 9RE What a great house. Upon investigation, it was found to be a physical domestic disturbance between a couple inside a residence. The 25-year-old male half was arrested for domestic violence. -by-the-sea: CPD units assisted MCSO with a burglary in progress on Dolores Street. -by-the-sea: Person on San Carlos Street reported the theft of commercial plants during the weekend. There are no suspects at this time. -by-the-sea: Alarm activation at an architectural office on Dolores Street. A responsible was on scene who noted that the alarm was not deactivated upon entry. -by-the-sea: Non-injury accident on Seventh Avenue. -by-the-sea: Found laptop and case turned over to P.D. by library staff for safekeeping. Owner of property arrived at CPD at 1520 hours. Owner identified property as belonging to him. Property returned to owner. Pacific Grove: Student, age 14, was found to be in possession of a glass pipe on campus on Sunset Drive. The student was issued a citation and received disciplinary action from the school. Student was referred to the juvenile diversion program. -by-the-sea: San Carlos Street resident called in regards to receiving a suspicious phone call. She was counseled and said she will call back if there are any additional telephone calls of such nature. Pacific Grove: Person reported vandalism to public restrooms in Caledonia Park. Pacific Grove: Woman reported her father was threatened six months ago by her ex-husband, and was threatened again by her ex-husband now via telephone. She did not think the threat would actually be carried out but wanted the threat documented, since her father works in Pacific Grove. She lives out of the area and was advised to report the threat to the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in her area. For info only. End of report. HOMELESS From page 5A But she said her fortune dwindled due to disabilities like Crohn s Disease and back pain, along with legal wrangling over the estate left by her husband, who died of an overdose in Ben Lomond just over seven years ago. According to Bas, Thomas was originally suspected in his death but later cleared, and she has been battling with attorneys to receive her inheritance. (Neither Thomas nor Bas would say anything more about the case, claiming that publicity about it could prejudice its outcome.) I became homeless about a year ago, said Thomas, who lived in for several years and has a P.O. box at the post office on Via Nona Marie. She said she rented a place in town for three years but lost it about a year ago, which led her to take up residence in a homeless encampment in the Jacks Peak area, despite owning stock, a storage space full of antiques and other possessions. Thomas also had use of her truck until a DUI conviction last September meant she could no longer drive, and Bas said it s now parked at a friend s house. I m homeless it s very painful to say, Thomas said. I need a place to live someplace I can live in a tent but I can t go up the mountains anymore, not until they fix my leg. After that, Thomas hopes to find a job and resolve her legal issues, according to Bas. She recently liquidated $8,000 of her rapidly dwindling stock assets, of which only $13,000 still remain and must last her until a pending legal arbitration is completed (hopefully in her favor) in the next few months, or her leg heals enough for her to be able to work again, he wrote in his letter.
