We currently have 28 layouts signed up for the 2005 convention. If you wish to be on the layout tour list, please notify Dan Lewis as soon as possible. Volunteers will be needed to work on the convention booklet, preparing registration materials and helping at the convention hotel. Please sign-up with Curt Danielewicz if you would like to volunteer. 3

2007 National Convention Dave Thornton announced that the 2007 committee would be holding their next meeting in Lansing Michigan on Saturday Feb 5 th 2005. Please contact Dave Thornton for directions to the meeting. The 2007 National convention is in need of a prototype tour coordinator. Contact Dave if you are interested. Trustee s Report Dave recently attended the last meeting of the current board. The February Scale Rails will have ballot for new board election. Dave is running for Central District trustee unopposed, since the other person for Central trustee withdrew. The new bylaws have term limits that will keep people limited to serving two full terms. The NMRA museum will probably wind up at the Sacramento RR museum, and could be a joint museum with the Narrow gauge museum. The NMRA library will publish a book on freight cars from the 1947-1948 time period. The 2011 convention will be in Sacramento, hopefully after the NMRA Howell Day Museum is open for business there. There will be an NMRA membership drive with prizes for recruiters. There was a recent surge in NMRA insurance inquiries after an article in Scale Rails about the benefits of having the insurance coverage. The NMRA standards group has been revamped, but still is in need of 10 sub-managers. The NMRA will cease selling life memberships after March 1 st. If you have a current quote for a life membership, you have up until March 1 st to exercise it. NMRA membership will be $33 and a Scale Rails subscription will be $12. There will no longer be an affiliate membership. The National will pay regions $2 per member within the region. Regions and divisions will need to charge for subscriptions if they have publications that require funding and they will have to charge user fees, if needed, for any meeting expenses inquired. Members outside of the USA will pay the fair price for Scale Rails. Outside USA regions will locally bill for membership. NMRA meeting operate under Robert s Rules of Order. So there is a mechanism to remove unruly members from local meetings if necessary. This was brought up since NMRA members will be members at the region and division level universally.
