Implementer / Consultant Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation. AKM. DEMOS supports Kosovo in its transition process towards a democratic, decentralised state in which municipality exercises socially inclusive governance and provide effective services responding to citizens priorities and needs. The DEMOS component 1) intervenes at the horizontal level through direct support to 17 municipalities in Kosovo. Within its component 2) the project supports the Association of Kosovo Municipalities (AKM) with on budget core funding aiming to enable the AKM to successfully carry out its core mandate: advocacy and lobbying at central level on behalf of municipal authorities and serve as an effective platform for networking, training and exchange. The component 3) intervenes at the vertical level by fostering a conducive framework for decentralisation through support to relevant actors of the central government.
