About the Awards Our host The Awards are the Oscars of healthcare and social care. In their 12th year of recognising excellence, they are judged independently and objectively and focus on the people providing the care as well as their advisors Gyles Brandreth returns as our host in 2017. Last year we received over 350 nominations, with the winners on the night receiving their Awards in front of an audience of 800 of their peers. The Awards are returning to the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, a fantastic, modern venue in sight of the Houses of Parliament and opposite St Thomas s Hospital. Gyles is a writer, broadcaster, former MP and Government Whip, best known these days as a reporter on The One Show on BBC1 and a regular on Radio 4 s Just a Minute and Who s Line is it Anyway? Our charity partner Last year we supported The Circle, a charity founded by Annie Lennox, raising over 40,000 on the night - a remarkable amount.
