Director's Report Well, the riding season is about kaput. October is pretty much the end of our road adventures for this year. The summer went by so fast. I felt like I was writing a report every couple of weeks instead of once a month. I hope everyone got plenty of saddle time. rjl pass the 11,000 mile mark for the season but still feel like I didn't ride as much as I wanted. A wet, cold spring followed by a very hot July kept me off the bike more than usual. I spent last Sunday afternoon and most of Monday on what was probably my last trip of any distance for this year. I rode with Bernie to western Minnesota to pick up a part for his classic car. Yes, he could have had the part shipped to him, but what fun would that has been. Weput on about 700 miles and even with a little rain it was still a good ride. The Patriot Ride on September 1st was a moving experience for me. This is the 2'd time I have ridden it. Hopefully Jim will post some pictures for you. It sounds like they would like to do another one next year. The chapter meeting September!fh was a little light on attendance. I hope we can improve on that. The Sept lij1bchapter picnic got rained on but we still had seven bikes make the ride. (I shortened it a little due to the rain) A few members drove in by car. The food at the Quarry Lodge was excellent. Many thanks to Daryl for setting it up. The October ride schedule sounds like fun. October 2'd will be Jim's Willie Whopper Ride to.colesburg. Bring your appetite!! Saturday, October IJIbis the Dealership ride to benefit the Northeast Iowa family chosen in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The $20 donation includes a T shirt. The ride's destination will be the site of the new home, which is not yet public knowledge. Please preregister for this ride by October 1st with Karri Mahr at 563-568-3471. The October HOG Chapter meeting is also Saturday the IJIbat 1PM in the conference room at the Yamaha store. October IIh is the fall color ride. I'm hearing predictions that the lj'hlllhwill be the peak weekend for the leaves this year. The Dealership is planning a Halloween Open House for October 1$h. Watch for the flyerslemails. Lynn has planned a Halloween ride for the 22'd. Crossyour fingers that the weather will cooperate. As a Chapter, we managed to get in some very enjoyable rides this season.
