Meliá in Calviá recovering leadership Meliá Hotels International retains a special bond with Magaluf, a winning destination where Escarrer opened its first large resort hotels, back in the 60's and 70's. 3 Destination Calviá With an excellent tourist infrastructure, abundant services in all its beaches, 300 sunshine days a year and average temperatures of 27º in summer and 14º in winter, Calvia municipality has about 53,200 inhabitants, 19,600 of them are families who have their second residence set here, having the rest of them established in the municipality their first residence, reducing thus foreign tourism dependence considerably. Calviá is one of the finest towns in Mallorca with 9 residential areas, where medium-high purchasing power families come together, tucked behind some of the most desirables residential areas of the island, as Costa d'en Blanes, Bendinat, Santa Ponça among others, as well as family entertainment bets as Katmandu Park, Western Water Park, the Pirates or Wave House, located close to the beach. Momentum Plaza is the result of public/private partnerships for the final transformation of Magaluf, with a strong commitment with adult and family tourism, as well as constant hotel offers and facilities renewal, supported by official organizations both municipal and autonomic. The tourism municipality De-seasonalization Plan, a strong private investment, together with the amendment of the ordinances and the pedestrianization of Avenida de Magaluf, have transformed the environment in a space where new shops, quality bars and restaurants converge.

Development and implementation of De-seasonalizing Plan and non-seasonal tourism products join this PGOU modification approved in 2009, committed to a quality tourism product diversification and economic boost in tourism.
