ITINERARY THURSDAY 03 OCTOBER AUSTRALIA PM Depart Australia on an overnight flight to Fukuoka. FRIDAY 04 OCTOBER FUKUOKA As per Japanese regulations the coach will stop every 2 hours for a minimum of 15 minutes for the duration of the tour. AM Arrival into Fukuoka. You will be met at the airport by an English speaking guide and transferred to your hotel. Here you will stay for the next three nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Fukuoka has long held the enviable reputation as one of Japan s coolest cities. Best known for its unique food and large red light district, the city also has temples, shrines, festivals, castle ruins, beaches, islands, shopping, entertainment and nightlife. Locals think of Fukuoka as Japan's bridge to the world. The city is filled with institutions, museums and clubs aimed at building cultural ties between Japan and other cultures. It's a friendly, cosmopolitan city. SATURDAY 05 OCTOBER FUKUOKA/OITA/FUKUOKA B Breakfast at your hotel. Today travel via coach to Oita. 2.15pm Kick Off Australia v Uruguay This afternoon transfer back to Fukuoka where the evening is at your leisure.

SUNDAY 06 OCTOBER FUKUOKA/KUMAMOTO/FUKUOKA B Breakfast this morning is at your hotel. Travel via coach to Kumamoto. Kumamoto is deeply proud of its greatest landmark, Kumamoto-jō, the castle around which the city radiates. Stop at Kumamoto Traditional Crafts Centre, where various arts and goods with strong ties to the history of Kumamoto are on display and available for sale. Eighty different traditional crafts chosen by the Prefecture are on exhibit here, including the famous Higo Zogan gold inlay metalcraft, wood and bamboo crafts, ceramics, folk toys, and knives. 4.45pm Kick Off France v Tonga We will also make a stop at the Suntory Beer factory, equipped with an observation deck for visitors, on the spot tasting and a restaurant serving beer made on the premises. After the match transfer back to Fukuoka.

MONDAY 07 OCTOBER FUKUOKA/HIROSHIMA B After breakfast this morning check out of your hotel. Today travel by coach to Hiroshima, here you will stay for the next two nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Along the way stop for lunch (own expense) at Iwakuni and visit the Kintaikyo Bridge. The elegant wooden bridge makes five bold arches onto massive stone pillars as it crosses the Nishiki River. A visit to Hiroshima naturally focuses on memorials to the atomic bombing of 1945, but that s not the end of the story. Present-day Hiroshima is home to an ever-thriving cosmopolitan community, and it's worth spending a couple of nights here to experience the city at its vibrant best. Check out Hiroshima s thriving food scene, a clutch of galleries and historic sights, and some of the wildest nightlife in Japan.

TUESDAY 08 OCTOBER HIROSHIMA/MIYAJIMA/HIROSHIMA B After breakfast this morning depart on a full day sightseeing tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. Perhaps the starkest reminder of the destruction visited upon Hiroshima in WWII is the Atomic Bomb Dome. The most important sight in Hiroshima, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is a must-see for those who want to understand the horrors of the atomic bombing and the events that led to it and took place after it. A short ferry ride away, the island of Miyajima is a stunningly beautiful island that is home to some lovely shrines and temples. Visit the famous Itsukushima Shrine. This iconic shrine is known for its floating torii gate. This evening is at your leisure to enjoy Hiroshima.

WEDNESDAY 09 OCTOBER HIROSHIMA/KYOTO B/L Breakfast at your hotel prior to check out. Depart Hiroshima for Kyoto, travelling to Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. Scenery of the old days is still mostly preserved, with white walled warehouses and villas lined up along Kurashiki River with boats carrying supplies. Continue onto Himeji for lunch and to visit the elegant Himeji Castle, also known White Heron Castle, it is widely considered Japan s most spectacular castle for its imposing size and beauty. Upon arrival in Kyoto check into your hotel. Here you will stay for the next two nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

THURSDAY 10 OCTOBER KYOTO B/D Breakfast at your hotel. Today there will be a full day sightseeing tour of Kyoto. Kyoto is old Japan, while the rest of Japan has adopted modernity, the old ways are still clinging on in Kyoto. World famous for its wonderful temples and shrines, but that s only the beginning of the story. There s also incredible shopping, bicycling, hiking, museums, galleries and green spaces. Visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari. Enjoy a trip on the Sagano Scenic Railway (Torokko Train) where the charming old fashion trains wind their way through the forested ravine and into rural Kameoka. Spend time at Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. The thick green bamboo stalks seem to continue endlessly in every direction and there s a strange quality to the light at this famous bamboo grove. Enjoy a guided tour of the Suntory Yamazaki Factory, where Japanese Whisky was born. Tonight experience a traditional Kyoto dinner.

FRIDAY 11 OCTOBER KYOTO/NARA/SHIZUOKA B After breakfast this morning check out of your hotel. Today travel to Shizuoka via Nara. Visit Nara Park, at the base of Mount Wakakusa. The park is home to hundreds of free roaming deers. Within the park is the Todaiji Temple, constructed in 752. The Big Buddha Hall is the world largest wooden building housing one of Japans largest bronze statues of Buddha. Continue onto Shizuoka where you will stay overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. 7.15pm Kick Off Australia v Georgia After the match return to your hotel.

You will be met and transferred to Yokohama. 5.15pm Kick Off England v France After the match travel to Tokyo where you will stay for the next four nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Tokyo is definitely one of those top places in every traveller s to-do list. The city is a marvellous mix of modern living and old-fashioned manners, slick high-tech gadgets and cutesy cartoon mascots. There are shrines and stone lanterns and other traces of old Japan scattered among the skyscrapers, swanky shopping malls and hole-in-the-wall noodle shops. SUNDAY 13 OCTOBER TOKYO/YOKOHAMA/TOKYO B Breakfast at your hotel. This morning is at your leisure to explore Tokyo. This afternoon travel to Yokohama International Stadium. 7.45pm Kick Off Japan v Scotland After the match return to Tokyo.

MONDAY 14 OCTOBER TOKYO B Breakfast at your hotel. This morning you will attend a Sumo training session, called Keiko. During Keiko the wrestlers exert themselves to the limit according to traditional practices. This afternoon and evening is at your leisure to explore Tokyo. You might like to head to Shinjuku. Explore the architecture in Nishi- Shinjuku, including the Metropolitan Government Building, City Hall and the mesh covered Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower. Spend sometime in the many pubs and Ramen restaurants in the Higashi-Shinjuku district or why not spend some time in the Takashimaya Times Square shopping mall. TUESDAY 15 OCTOBER TOKYO/YAMANASHI/TOKYO B/L Breakfast at your hotel. Today there will be a full day sightseeing tour of Yamanashi. Visit Mt Fuji 5 th Station. Enjoy a Taiko Drumming show with lunch. Taiko is an ancient Japanese form of percussion using large drums. One of taiko's most defining aspects is its dynamic playing style. WEDNESDAY 16 OCTOBER TOKYO/OSAKA B Breakfast at your hotel before check out. This morning travel by bullet train for Osaka. Upon arrival you will be met by your coach for an afternoon orientation tour. Osaka, Japan's third-largest city, is a place where things have always moved a bit faster, where people are a bit brasher. Osaka is a city that loves to eat: its unofficial slogan is kuidaore ('eat until you drop'). It really shines in the evening, when it seems that everyone is out for a good meal and a good time. Check into your hotel, here you will stay for the next two nights on a bed and breakfast basis. THURSDAY 17 OCTOBER OSAKA B /L Breakfast at your hotel. Today there will be a full day sightseeing of the Osaka region including a traditional Kushikatsu lunch experience. Explore Dontonbori, one of the most colourful areas in Osaka and an absolute must-visit location.
