Approximately 53kms from Napier: Turn off the Napier Taupo Road onto Waitara Road and follow for 8kms. This is a beautiful setting by the Mohaka River. Destination: LAKE TUTIRA DOC CAMP: Options to travel to Lake Tutira. Option 1: Turn left on Waitara Road, turn right on Pohokura Road. Turn right on Matahorua Road follow this road then turn right into State Highway 2 at school and store. Campsite will be on the left. Places of interest along the way. Destination: CLIFTON RESERVE: 85 Clifton Road, Hastings. Two days to enjoy the seaside. Attractions: Seaside parking, the reserve is on the cycle track, walking, and fishing, the Clifton restaurant, wineries across the road, coffee and store within a short walk and a Gannet Safari for those who wish to do so. Shopping is available in Havelock North and Hastings. Golf courses: Bridge Pa and Hastings. Take SH49, travel approx. 25kms. Continue onto Rangataua Road, then onto Clyde Street. Turn right onto Goldfinch Street and travel through roundabout. Destination is on the left. Attractions: The Railway Museum, Walking, Cycling, there are close by bush walks, drive up the mountain, Smash Palace and photograph the big carrot: PROGRAMME: Free to enjoy your time at Ohakune. Monday 4.00 pm: Meet inside the Cossie Club for a get together (licensed premises to buy a wine, beer, coffee etc). Destination: Pipiriki Wanganui River Adventures Camping Ground: Drive to Raetihi on the Raetihi Ohakune Road then take the Pipirki Raetihi Road. From SH4/Raetihi: Travel approximately 27 kms, turn onto Seddon Street and stay on this road to Pipiriki Village. Travel past the Pipiriki Cottage sign, destination is then 50m on right. There is a large sign saying Wanganui River Adventures Camping Ground. Attractions: Bridge to Nowhere: If you wish to do the jet boat trip to the Bridge to Nowhere book and pay this at the office on arrival. Cost is around $130.00 each or for 6 or more $117.00. Prices may change. 4 4 ½ hours for trip, including a 40 minute walk through the bush to the bridge. From here you may like to do a scenic drive, along River Road and visit Jerusalem, Ranana and other small settlements. PROGRAMME: TUESDAY: Happy Hour, raffles, 4.00 pm. The Safari officially ends on Friday Morning October 14 th : We hope you will stay for the Lake Taupo organized Social Gathering held over the weekend. This is a separate event from the safari: Venue: King Country Vintage Car Club. A separate program for this event will be issued on registration. Attractions: King Country Vintage Car Club Rally and Tiger Moth fly in. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO REGISTER AND PAY FOR THIS SEPARATE EVENT: Costs: $5.00 per person per night. This event begins: 11.00am; on Friday 14 th October, Saturday 15 th and finishes on the morning of 16 th October. King Country Car Club rally: starting on the Saturday morning. They may be looking for some co drivers. Just down the road a short walk away at the airport is the Tiger Moth fly in over the weekend. You may be able to get a ride in one of the tiger moths just talk to one of the pilots.
