Sunday 6 th May FELIXSTOWE The popular classic vehicle rally is taking place on the Seafront today. Now in its 48 th year this popular event with up to 500 varied vehicles attending is a real visitor attraction. If classic vehicles don t tempt you there are all the usual seaside attractions of fish & chips, amusements, ice cream and the beach. Wednesday 9 th May BEDFORD Bedford has been a market town since the Middle Ages and in recent years the town has re-embraced the market model and now there are a large number of them held regularly as well as a large shopping centre and vibrant town centre. This, along with some of the ancient medieval architecture of the town, draws many people from the surrounding area to shop here on a regular basis. 3:30PM Wednesday 16 th May DUNWICH & WOODBRIDGE The beautiful coastline at Dunwich makes it the perfect place to stop for lunch. We will be calling in at the Flora Tearooms where for lunch they will be serving up their fish & chips. Choose from cod, plaice or haddock. Friday 18 th May ST IVES The Old Riverport of St Ives is a beautiful historic town 15 miles from Cambridge. A focal point is the splendid 15 th century bridge 11.60 and chapel over the river. There is a market today adjacent to the seafront. Tuesday 29 th May CLACTON Clacton has sandy beaches, seafront gardens and Victorian pier with undercover amusements and fun fair. Thursday 31 st May SUFFOLK SHOW The Suffolk Show is a day out like no other a traditional county show and a unique celebration of food, farming and the countryside. You ll be amazed at how much there is to see and do - spectacular grand ring displays, local food and drink, fabulous shopping, have a go activities, unique exhibits and hundreds of animals to see. For horse lovers, there is a full programme of top class show jumping, side saddle classes, Shetland Pony Grand National, Inter Hunt Relay and carriage driving! ADMISSION NOT INCLUDED Friday 1 st June BETH CHATTO GARDENS The Gardens, situated in Elmstead Market, were created by award winning gardener, author and lecturer Beth Chatto, who won 10 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, in 10 consecutive years. Now, they are an inspiration to gardeners and garden lovers and are also a renowned nursery and stock over 2000 varieties of plants, many propagated from plants in the Gardens. The Kursaal is a grade II listed building which was the world s first purpose built amusement arcade. Tuesday 5 th June STAMFORD OR BURGHLEY HOUSE Declared a conservation area in 1967, Stamford has over 600 listed buildings all in mellow limestone in the town centre including 5 medieval churches. It is also home to one of the oldest provincial theatres, built in 1768 which is now used as the arts centre. There are plenty of shops to peruse and buildings to explore or you could have a quiet walk along the river. If you fancy, you could follow the Town Trail which takes you around Stamford. Alternatively enjoy a visit to Burghley House. Built between 1555 and 1587 the house has been beautifully preserved and restored. Take a look round the old kitchen, the chapel, the billiard room and many of the bedrooms. Saturday 7 th July WALTON ON THE NAZE OR FRINTON Walton On The Naze is a traditional seaside town with the second longest pier in Britain, golden sands and nature reserves. The rooms remain much as they were when Winston Churchill lived here, with pictures, books and personal mementoes evoking the career and wide-ranging interests of a great statesman and family man. Saturday 14 th July PORTSMOUTH Portsmouth is steeped in Naval history with lots to see in the Historic Dockyard including the Museum that houses the remains of Henry VIII ship The Mary Rose. Gunwharf Quays is a modern setting next to the Dockyard which is home to many designer outlet shops. Towering over them is The Spinnaker Tower which stands 170 metres tall. It s well worth a visit to the top to see the view which on a clear day can reach as far as 23 miles. 22.00 CODE F Monday 16 th July HIGHCLERE CASTLE THE HOME OF DOWNTON ABBEY Come with us to visit one of England's most beautiful Victorian Castles set in 1,000 acres of spectacular parkland. The Caernarvon family has lived at Highclere since 1679, and the current castle stands on the site of an earlier house, which was built on the foundations of a medieval palace. Highclere was used in the TV programme Downton Abbey and in 1922 was home to the 5 th Earl who with Howard Carter discovered the Tomb 38.60 of Tutankhamun.
