Page 1 Hi, everyone! Well, summer is winding down. This month we have Sharon Power with knee surgery. She was home then had back problems and ended up back in the hospital. While she was there, her husband Glen was also hospitalized with some health problems. Larry Souza is being checked out for pain in his side. Bob Cooper had hernia surgery but is doing great now. He won't be riding for a while but it's too hot ride now anyway. Dave Moser lost Tuffy his friend (his horse). They had become like family. That's all for this me. I sure hope everyone does be er next month. If you know anyone that needs some Sunshine, please let me know. You may call me at 209-402-7252 or email me @ boopoopidu@aol.com.

WOW! Here it is August already and a hot one at that! It was 103 degrees at the Hurst Ranch for the Farm Bureau Fundraiser. There was s ll a very good turnout despite the heat. First mers, Doug and Cathy Dollarhide, were there with the rest of us: Lloyd and Susan Erlandson, Carl and Julie Perry with granddaughter Bree, David and Jody Rumsey and daughters Katlin, Mykala and Casey, Chris and Kathy Danicourt, Jerrie Thomas, Larry Souza, Vicki Morales, Darla Coelho and me. Lloyd cooked a berry cobbler (with a li le help) and it was GREAT! Keep on cooking, Lloyd! Larry made homemade ice cream and it was very much appreciated. Terri Arington called to thank us for doing the desserts and said there were many comments on how good they were! Our next event is Kennedy Meadows, Thursday, August 17, through Monday, August 21. Come up for one day or all five! Our regular potluck will be held Saturday evening followed by the General Mee ng. If you want to, we can again have a Sunday breakfast where everyone contributes something to either cook on the grill/stove or that is already cooked and ready to eat. The Pack Clinic is Saturday, September 9 at MJC. The unit is providing Dutch oven style lunch - kind of like a demonstra on, showing what we can do in the back country. I suggest we make burritos with a pot each of refried beans, bbq chicken, pulled pork and/or bbq beef, and rice and let everyone assemble their own burrito. Any other sugges ons? I hope to see you all at Kennedy Meadows! CLARK FORK HORSE CAMP IS OPEN AND LOOKING GREAT! In last month's newsle er, Karen Lopes shared an ar cle about one of the first trail work projects of the season at Clark Fork. Karen, Dave Moser, Ernie Warzyca and Dennis Wetherington cleared approximately 35 trees/limbs off of about 10 miles of trails. Here are some photos of the trail crew's work. Dave Moser and Dennis Wetherington showed the magnitude of the snow bank-avalanche on the first creek past the fork on the Arnot trail Dennis Wetherington and Ernie Warzyca o en assisted with the rock bars while Dave Moser cranked on the come along Ernie Warzyca jumped off his mount to clear some smaller debris in the trail Dennis Wetherington cleared off limbs that stuck out in the trail at the base of the Woods Gulch switchbacks Dave Moser used his come along. It worked well and was much lighter to carry than the Griphoist Heading back to the trailers a er a long day of trail clearing A crosscut saw was used to clear this tree off of the Boulder Lake trail PAGE 5
