Lake Erie Chapter #3738 February 2015 Vol 6 Issue 1 Sponsored By: Lake Erie Harley Davidson 38401 Chester Avon Ohio Director s Chair Mike Cotrufo Inside this issue: Director s Chair 1 Ringo Says 2 Hogwash Director s Chair Brrrr It s ridiculously cold outside! 15 and snowing like a beast! Sure makes me think of warm days on the Harley, riding with my fellow HOG Chapter riders and having the time of my life! I guess that s a memory saved for days like these, when the only thing you see is either the white snow or the white from the salt stains that you get on your clothing. Nasty weather, BE GONE! That said, Nick Halpin, your Head Road Captain, is busy getting things prepared for you. 32 rides are being planned right now and, at the last General Membership meeting, there were Ride Suggestion sheets handed out. Once filled in, Nick can add the rides of your choice to the 2015 calendar of rides and events! I plan to accompany all of you this year on as many rides as possible! Activities/Volunteer 3 Head Road Captain` 3 LOH 4 Membership 4 Dec Jan Activities 5 Minutes 6 & 7 Birthdays 8 Officer Contact 8 Ron Long, your LEHD HOG Assistant Director, informed everyone at the meeting about the 2015 Pennsylvania HOG Rally. This will be held in Erie, PA, which is less than 2 hours away. It would be great if we had a large contingent from our LEHD HOG Chapter! I think that all who can attend should attend! Let s show everyone how we roll at this HOG Chapter! I will be attending the Harley Officers Training in March which will be in Detroit. This important training will give me and the other 6 attendees the latest information about what can be done to make your Lake Erie HD HOG Chapter experience a great one! I m always looking for ways to make your membership worthwhile and this H.O.T. session will give me some

Page 2 Director s Chair Mike Cotrufo new ideas! Stay tuned for future developments! Unfortunately, 2014 was a very difficult year, with several of our HOG Chapter brothers and sisters experiencing deaths or illnesses during the year. Not to mention, the untimely passing of Joe Conway and Dave Barrett. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers. That s it for now, so as I always close the Hogwash, let me know what I can do to make your membership experience better. Email me, stop me in the dealership whenever you see me and I will do my best for you! We are the best Chapter in the country! Anyhow, be cool, ride safe and I ll see you soon Mike Cotrufo Ringo Says - Ron Long HI Everyone, Winter has arrived with a vengeances. Just think, riding season is only 3 months away. I have to thank all the volunteers that helped us over the holidays. We raised over $1000 for the DAV and the MDA Ride for Life. Great job everyone. We need your help with rides that you would like to do. If you have a ride or some place that you would like to see the chapter do please let one of the officers or any of the road captains know any details so that we can check it out. Don t forget about all the HOG benefits that are offered. You have the ABC S of Touring, HOG mileage program, AT&T services and Best Western Hotel rewards. They also have road side assistance. All the information is in with your HOG package or on member.hog.com. I mentioned at the last meeting that I was going to lead a group of riders to Erie, PA for the Hog rally on Aug. 27-29. I will have more info at the next meeting. If you need to know all the details, check the web site members.hog.com. Hope to see you soon. As always, ride safe and have fun Ron ringo Long

Page 3 Activities/Volunteer - Carolyn Liggett Activities Officer... Thanks to the wonderful members that came out to the January Chapter Meeting! We even had new members attending! At a past meeting we as a group decided to NOT make arrangements to go to dinner following the monthly meetings. This is due to lack of attending at locations picked. I ask where you would like to go and I make those arrangements and the restaurant then holds tables and adds on staff. So when 20 hold up hands and only 5 show as our Director has said this makes us as a chapter look bad. I had a member come to me asking "So where is the dinner ride to?" No knowing we changed this. So I just want to remind you that we will not make arrangements until we get a sizeable group to attend. We will do pot lucks still and for the February meeting we will be doing Walking Tacos provided by the Chapter. We also will be doing Silly Hat Day! What is that you ask? Well, its like the Ugly Sweater. Wear a silly, unusual, strange hat to the February Meeting and we will put you in for a drawing for a nice prize! Regular team baseball hats not included in this!! Sorry! So please try to attend and have fun! I'm working on a activity for the end of the month so keep checking the website or for Blasts being sent out to your e-mails. Anyone with new fresh ideas please let me know! The Soup Cook Off is also coming on February 21st. I'm challenging all members to get in to this and we will have a member competition! So when you register with Tom for the Cabin Fever Soup Cook-Off and making soup be sure to tell him you want in the Members Competition held by the Chapter! Good Luck! Thanks to those that helped with the Swap Meet, We all had a fun time! Few guys even rode to this event...burrr! Thanks again, Carolyn Head Road Captain Nick Halpin Hey Members, I like to think of the Motorcycle Show at the IX center as a sign that spring is. coming. It renews my excitement that I will be riding again. I am working on the ride schedule both for Dinner rides and Chapter rides. Some examples will be a trip around Lake Erie, local rides to events in the area, interesting roads in south eastern Ohio, A Light House tour ride, and much more. On February 28th at noon at Lake Erie Harley there will be a Group riding class. I am holding a Road Captains meeting at 1pm. I will have the Ride lists and dates. I will be looking to Road Captains to claim the rides. Soon after this meeting I will be posting to the calendar and details on the rides will follow. Remember that John Gudin, our Safety Office, is once again keeping track of mileage for the chapter mileage program. As soon as riding season starts, I will plan a Road Captains ride where new Road Captains can watch experienced RC's to learn what to do on the road. I hope everyone has had a good Holiday season and is ready to start riding again. See you at the next meeting.

Page 4 Volunteers Carolyn Liggett Volunteer Corner... As we get into up coming events, please consider volunteering! Why??!! You really do have fun! You get to meet new members or people, socialize and it really is rewarding for our chapter! Please sign up on line or with Tom on Dealership Events. Even if you can come for an hour or two, we can use the help! If your NOT volunteering...why, please let me know so we can fix that!! We need you!!! Thanks to those that help out even at the chapter meeting with sign up and 50/50 or food. I truly appreciate you! The Dealership does as well! Thanks!
