Sendai Airport Damaged facilities have been restored and domestic commercial flights were resumed on 13 th Apr 2011, with limited scale but all international flights have been still suspended. ( 25 flights per day between Guam, Seoul, Dalian, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei and Changchun by CO, OZ, CA, BR and CZ ). Other airports in Japan have been operating normally and functioning as the bases for the rescue and reconstruction of the disaster-stricken area since the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. According to MLIT s official web site ( Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism ), they prospect to resume International flights on 25 th July and to accept International charter flights at the end of Jun. ICAO News release on 14 th Apr 2011 and MLIT s web site. Screening of radiation for health and safety purpose is currently considered unnecessary at airports or seaports around the world. Areas critically affected by the nuclear power plant accident are limited, and radiation at a level that has harmful effects on human health has not been detected at any airports in Japan. Based on those observations, authoritative international organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have declared that there is at this stage no need for imposing restrictions on travel to Japan. 3
