The Location The Cleeve, as its name suggests, is set within the hillside in the Hawkcombe Valley and enjoys glorious views across playing fields to The Vale of Porlock. The village itself has an excellent range of convenience stores, gift shops, a library, primary school, church, several inns, playing fields with pavilion and a reputable health centre, and is famous for its picturesque weir and beach and steep hill with hairpin bends. Minehead is found a few miles to the south, offering a good range of shops, sports facilities and both middle and senior schools. Exmoor is known for its heather topped beacons and wooded valleys and provides excellent walking and riding countryside. Communications Taunton, the county town of Somerset, is within an hour s drive and has good communications, including M5 Motorway Junction 25 and main line station with fast trains on the Great Western service scheduled to arrive at London Paddington within an hour and forty five minutes. The M5 Motorway can also be joined at Bridgwater, giving fast and easy access to Bristol Airport, the Cribbs Causeway shopping mall and connects with the M4 Motorway at Bristol, leading straight into London. Although the house clearly has a rich history, it is not listed. Arranged over three floors, the accommodation is versatile and well-decorated and is at present used as a Big House Venue providing a good income. With a number of bedrooms on the first and second floors, the property could also provide excellent Bed & Breakfast accommodation and has been fitted with a high capacity hot water system to supply six bathrooms simultaneously. The ground floor is arranged to provide a lovely double reception room to the front of the house, which is at present furnished as a sitting room with dining area. There is a separate drawing room with an intriguing fireplace bearing the inscription au Dieu Foy aux Amis Foyer. There are many other interesting original features such as encaustic floor tiles, carved staircase and banisters, window seats, beams and stained glass windows. The bedrooms are all spacious, well-decorated and enjoy lovely outlooks. The second floor could easily provide a separate suite of rooms. Situated close to the village of Porlock within Exmoor National Park, the property is ideal for holidays and long weekends, but would be equally lovely as a family home, enjoying easy access to local amenities without being overlooked.
