Merit Badges Offered ARCHEOLOGY ARCHERY Location: Shooting Sports Complex Preparation: Recommended scouts be at least a 3rd year camper or 14 years of age. Requires 2 time blocks to complete. BASKETRY Craft Cost: $15.00 Cost does not include Leatherwork kits. Taught with Leatherwork BIRD STUDY Preparation: bring bird field guide or purchase in TP. Cost does not include Basketry kits. LIFE SAVING Location: Gussman Pool Pavilion Preparation: Must have earned Swimming merit badge. Only strong swimmers will be able to qualify. Recommended scouts be at least a 3rd year camper or 14 years of age. ROBOTICS Location: Tech Preparation: Requirements 6a, 6b and 7 prior to camp. ROWING Aquatic rating. Scout must bring a long pair of pants and a long sleeved shirt SEARCH AND RESCUE Preparation: Requirements 4, 6, and 10 will not be completed at camp SHOTGUN SHOOTING Location: Shooting Sports Complex Cost: 5 shots for $3 (expect min. of 75 shots to qualify) Preparation: Must have Merit Badge Pamphlet. Recommended scouts be at least a 3rd year camper or 14 years of age. SMALL BOAT SAILING Aquatic rating SNOW SPORTS Location: AES Shady Point Winding Stair Preparation: Requirement 5f. (Alpine) Must wear long pants SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION. Taught with Fish & Wildlife Management SPACE EXPLORATION Location: Tech Cost: $10.00 SWIMMING Location: Gussman Pool Pavilion rating. Scouts will need to bring a pair of long pants and a long sleeved shirt. Recommended for 1st Class scouts. WEATHER Preparation: Requirement 9a prior to camp. Taught with Oceanography 15

WELDING Location: Metalwork Building Cost: $20.00 14 or older. Taught with Plumbing WHITEWATER Aquatic Cost: $20.00 Preparation: Must have Canoeing & Kayaking Merit Badge. Must have a swimmer s rating WILDERNESS SURVIVAL Preparation: Requirement 5 prior to camp. Scout will need a pocket knife, hiking boots and canteen. Must attend overnight campout to complete WOODCARVING Craft Cost: $12.00 Preparation: Scouts may bring their own pocketknife and sharpening stone. Free Time Merit Badges-Sign up for at camp CHESS FIRE SAFETY Preparation: Requirement 11 and 12 prior to camp FINGERPRINTING Craft SCOUTING HERITAGE Location: Soaring To Eagle MERIT BADGE NOTE All merit badge requirements based on 2015 BSA requirements. At camp any 2016 updates will apply so check www.halescoutreservation.org for updates before coming to camp. (Usually the Feb. March timeframe). Online Merit Badge Sign-ups beginning April 1 May 1 Codes only sent to troops that are current on payments. Some Merit Badges have age and/or rank requirements. We ask that those are followed to ensure more experienced Scouts have an opportunity to earn without an overcrowded class. Updates are shared with leaders during leader meetings and if there are questions and problems that they be addressed ASAP so corrections can be made. 16
