THE BEST OF BRAZIL S WILDLIFE PANTANAL A special WPA nature tour. A myriad of birds and other stunning nature subjects... PLUS JAGUAR, MACAW & BIRDS... E: julia@worldadventures.com.au W: www.worldphotoadventures.com.au

THIS IS AN ULTIMATE NATURE ADVENTURE! Our Brazil tour was voted the best wildlife experience by our adventurers in 2016 ever! Wild Brazil targets the incredible nature of the Pantanal and in particular - JAGUAR, MACAW & BIRDS! This location is like Kakadu on steroids! Travel with us to this South American wildlife paradise during the dry season, the best time for prime wildlife photography and for the iconic jaguars! The Pantanal is a vast natural region located in the heart of South America encompassing the World s largest tropical flooded wetland. Although is shared by Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, more than 70 % of the Pantanal floodplain is located in the Brazilian states of MatoGrosso do Sul., covering an area of more than 138,183 square kilometers. Though the Amazon rainforest is well known worldwide due to its diversity, the Pantanal offers more number of visible species and individuals and is one of the most productive wildlife habitats on Earth in terms of photogenic wildlife! Iconic species such as yacare caimans, capybaras, anacondas, ocelots, rheas, marsh deer, crab-eating raccoons, tapirs, peccaries, giant otters, jabirus, toucans, flocks of numerous species of parrots, parakeets, ibises, plus giant anteaters and jaguars, among many others, transform the Pantanal in a dream for any demanding wildlife photographer! OUR UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS Darran and Julia have a combined 70+ years of working in the travel and tour industry. Son s Pearce and Frazer also offer unique experience with Pearce guiding and working in over 50 events and Frazer working at many events and covering the businesses IT requirements. We are a family business... Julia became a professional travel agent in 1983. Julia has worked for travel retailers and wholesalers, plus of course many years as the office manager for our business. Julia is very travelled, having visited every continent and many islands. Darran first guided a group while working at Carnarvon Gorge in Central Queensland in 1981. He has a huge portfolio of photography work and accomplishments from guiding for several companies, to commercial shoots, books and to this day supplying articles for publications like Australian Photography Magazine. Darran has been involved with over 400 photo events around the world. Finally, World Photo Adventures is fully covered by Tour Operator Insurance. This is not standard travel insurance and is not available until a rigorous check of a businesses procedures and use of travel operators is made. PHOTO adventure... We are offering two very different, but unique linked holidays. In 2019 we invite you to photograph some of the best locations in Brazil and Argentina. 1. Iguazu Falls & Estancia San Juan Poriahu - August 2. The Best of Brazil s Wildlife - August YES 30 YEARS... In 1989, Darran guided his first photo tour group to Norfolk Island. Julia guided a group of travel agents from New Zealand. They met at the famous island fish fry the rest is history... PAGE 2

ITINERARY TO ADVENTURE HIGHLIGHTS... * The tour is planned for Pantanal s best time for fantastic jaguar photography during the dry season. Three full days for shooting jaguars at the best locations along the Cuiabá and Piquirí rivers! * Plenty of room in boats and vehicles for comfortable jaguar and wildlife photography. * The best locations in the Americas for shooting accessible and diverse wildlife: jaguars, anacondas, families of giant river otters, spectacled caimans, capybaras, Brazilian tapirs, whitelipped peccaries, howler monkeys, marsh deer, iguanas, tegu lizards, giant anteaters, nesting hyacinth macaws, toco toucans, colonies of jabiru and wood storks and more! * Accommodation in the best cattle ranches in the heart of the Pantanal that offer outstanding photographic opportunities and close access to wildlife: tame and habituated groups of giant river otters and black-collared hawks that fish piranhas at few feet from your boat; red-breasted and toco toucans and a wide diversity of tame tropical birds that pose at close distance from your cameras, troops of capuchin monkeys and a wide diversity of rainforest and savannah mammals that visit a hide located by a spring that has water all year round! PRE TOUR Accommodation starts AS PER ITINERARY, Day 1. The tour finishing in Cuiabá, with no further services included. We suggest you arrive in Cuiabá, at least 24 hours before the tour starts. This will help with the new time zone and allow you to be fresh for the start of your adventure. We generally commence booking pre/post accommodation and flights approximately 8/9 months prior to departure, this optimising your travel interests. FINAL ITINERARY Note that a final itinerary will be sent to you about one month before departure. PAGE 3

DAY 1 - CUIABA August 23 We meet at 4pm this afternoon for a briefing on the adventures ahead and for your first workshop. This is followed by a welcome to Brazil dinner. Hotel accommodation - (D) DAY 2 - CUIABÁ TRANSPANTANEIRA HIGHWAY August 24 We drive southwards to Poconé and along the Transpantaneira, an elevated road of 160 km. Quickly you will see the savanna - the Pantanal. It is made up of dozens of rivers which eventually reach the Cuiabá River. The Transpantaneira is an excellent road for seeing and photographing the abundant wildlife of the region, as the ponds and pools at both sides concentrate a surprising diversity of wildlife even during the dry season. Caimans, capybaras, marsh deer, jabiru storks, roseate spoonbills and many species of kingfishers. Accommodation for 2 nights in a lovely Lodge. This includes nocturnal exploration in search of wildlife. Lodge accommodation - (B,L,D) DAY 3 - PANTANAL POUSO ALEGRE RANCH August 25 Full day for exploring the savannahs, wetlands and forests. We will look for spectacled caimans, Brazilian tapirs, blackcollared hawks, Amazon kingfishers, wattled jacanas, and many other species. These creatures frequent the ponds and flooded areas. The savannahs and forests are the habitat of the giant anteater, greater rheas, coatis and several black-and golden howler monkeys. Very close to the lodge nests two pairs of habituated hyacinth macaws, the biggest parrots on Earth. Lodge accommodation - (B,L,D) DAYs 4 & 5: SANTA TEREZA RANCH August 26/27 We drive southwards along the Transpantaneira and after 2 ½ hours, we arrive to Santa Tereza Ranch, where we will stay for the next 2 days. The ranch has an excellent history of protecting the local ecosystems and avoiding poaching, and that s why the wildlife is so abundant and approachable. The area also offers photogenic and habituated groups of giant river otters (an extremely endangered species), nesting jabiru storks (accessible from observation towers close to the nests), Brazilian tapirs and groups of capuchin monkeys, as well as active black-collared hawks that fish piranhas close to the lodge. The number of birds around the house is amazing: colourful tanagers, wattled jacanas, turquoise-fronted parrots, tropical-screech owls, squirrel cuckoos and so much more. Accommodation at Ranch for 2 nights. PAGE 4

DAY 6 - SANTA TEREZA RANCH PORTO JOFRE August 28 We continue driving southwards up to the end of the Transpantaneira, with stops for adding new species of wildlife, reaching the Cuiabá River and our accommodation for the next 3 nights: Hotel Porto Jofre, is a comfortable lodge located by the river. This region around Porto Jofre, is one of the best regions for spotting and photographing jaguars as these felines are not afraid of humans due to the protection at the large and nearby Encontro das Aguas State Park, and the big abundance of preys along the river banks, such as caimans, capybaras, tapirs, yellow anacondas and wood storks. After lunch we will photograph the wildlife at a small lake covered with Victoria regias and visit an area where we will see nesting hyacinth macaws, and at 3.00pm we will take our first boat trip in search of jaguars how exciting! (B,L,D) DAYs 7 & 8 - CUIABÁ RIVER August 29/30 We will navigate Cuiabá River and its tributaries at Parque Estadual Encontro das Aguas (Meeting of the Waters State Park), where jaguars hunt spectacled caimans, capybaras, tapirs, anacondas and other preys along the riverbanks during the dry season (from June up to November). The Pantanal jaguar subspecies is the largest one in the Americas, and its population has been growing in the region due to protection. We will depart in motorboats twice daily in search of these spectacular felines that usually hunt caimans and mammals without being afraid of photographers, but we will also focus in other wildlife such as Brazilian tapirs, capybaras and redbreasted toucans, among many other species. (B,L,D) DAY 9 - PORTO JOFRE CUIABÁ August 31 As time allows, another boat trip along the Piquiri River looking for jaguars and other wildlife. We drive back to Cuiabá, with stops along the Transpantaneira for wildlife photography, arriving at 7:00pm.Our final dinner and the chance to share a few tall stories...accommodation Hotel - (B,L,D) DAY 10 - CUIABÁ September 1 The tour ends. Transfer to Cuiaba Airport, where we will board our departure flights. (B). (B,L,D) - Confirms if Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner are included that day. Itinerary, price and details are subject to change.
