With the support of all the stake holders, this School has earned a name at the Global level. Scope and areas to be covered During the Conference, discussions will be made on the Development strategies and conservation of Mahaseer fish etc. It holds considerable promises to meet challenges required for betterment of life. Conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity is prime important need for proper ecological development. The main goal in a conservation programme is to conserve Mahaseer fish and to develop the strategies for Mahaseer population in the basins of rivers. Awareness on Mahseer conservation is lacking at the moment. There is no existing institutionalized mechanism. Local people need to be incentivized and motivated to get involved. Young minds need to be the target of awareness campaigns on Mahseer conservation. It may aim in general or at specific species like endangered or threatened ones. Objectives of the Program National Conference is being organized as part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the School of Biotechnology in this University. There will also be a separate get together for Alumni. The objective of the conference is to develop a research agenda and management toolbox for conservation and protect the threaten fish species like Mahaseer from basins of river Narmada. This will provide a common platform to share information on applied research on sustainable recreational fisheries conservation. Themes to be discussed Ichthyofaunal diversity Conservation Protection and conservation of Mahaseer (Tor tor) Conservation status of various species of Mahseer Identifying areas of research for longterm conservation of Mahseer. Institutional issues related to enhancing awareness, capacity building and improving governance framework for Mahseer conservation Identifying migratory habits and related behavioural aspects of different species of Mahaseer.

Climate: During September, days are normally cool (20-27 o C). However, unlike other places in central India, the summer nights in Indore are pleasant. Due to its location on the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau, it may be hot during the day, however in the late evening, cool breeze starts which makes the evenings quite pleasant, referred to as Shab-e-Malwa. There aren t a lot of touristy things to do here with the Ghat and the Ahilya Fort pretty much rounding off the list. Mandav The city of Joy. There are a host of historical monuments here which are constructed on the hinduand Afgan style of Architecture. Mandav is famous for its amazing fort. Panchmarhi Hill station in Madhya Pradesh. TRAIN/BUS Links Indore is well connected by air, train and road with other prominent cities of India. By Train: Indore is connected to major Indian cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Howrah (Kolkata), Bhopal, Jabalpur, Bilaspur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Jammu, Dehradun and Trivandrum. Journey time is approx. 15 hours from Delhi/Mumbai. By Road : The National Highway NH3(Agra-Bombay Road) and NH59 (Indore-Ahmedabad Road) passes through Indore and there are daily bus services from Indore to Mumbai, Shirdi, Pune, Jaipur, Gwalior, Pachmadi, Bhopal, Kanpur, Agra, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Nagpur etc. Some of the bus services are - Raj National Express, Royal Travels, Hans and City link Travels.
