SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE
Sponsorship Request Wednesday, November 16, 2011 Dear Community Partner, The Rotary Club of Colwood and West Shore Parks & Recreation Society are excited to announce the Rotary Picnic Playground Project. This project is a $244,000 inclusive playground that will not only have the latest in children s playground equipment but will also include features for children living with disabilities and wheelchair accessible surfacing. The location of the proposed project is at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, lower field area, in the City of Colwood, BC. At this site there is a beautiful picnic shelter equipped with picnic tables, running water, and cement pads for BBQs. Surrounding this location are baseball diamonds, basketball courts, soccer fields and public washroom facilities. The addition of a playground would make this space a complete place to play for community members of all ages and abilities. The Rotary Picnic Playground will be a total of 7854 square feet and have play structures for preschool age children as well as children 5-12 years of age. It will have double disc swings, approximately 6 smaller playground toys with seesaw and spinning features, an asphalt path to the picnic shelter and partial retaining wall that can be used as seating. The playground will have a universal design and all playground/ toy structures and surfaces included in this build are built to CSA Z614-07 Annex H standard as the minimum requirement. This project upholds the West Shore Parks & Recreation (WSPR) vision of a full range of accessible recreational opportunities for all ages and abilities with a commitment to meeting the challenges of today and the opportunities of the future. Together in partnership the Rotary Club of Colwood and WSPR are committed to providing diverse and accessible recreational opportunities that contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community as a whole.
