QATAR Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a sovereign Arab country located in Southwest Asia. Its sole land border is with Saudi Arabia to the south with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. Its total area is 11,586 sq km and is at number 166 in world. Its capital is Doha. Hindu. The natural resources of country include petroleum, natural gas, fish. Its official language is Arabic and currency is Riyal. The main religion of country is Muslim and others include Christian & Demographics Its total population is 2,123,160(2014) and it is at number 146 in the world. Age structure: 0-14 years: 12.5% (male 134,477/female 130,640) 15-24 years: 13.4% (male 208,278/female 75,889) 25-54 years: 69.9% (male 1,228,151/female 256,099) 55-64 years: 3.4% (male 55,386/female 16,156) 65 years and over: 0.8% (male 11,226/female 6,858) Population growth rate of the country is 3.58% and it is at number 5 in the world. Birth rate is 9.95 births/1,000 population and in world at 194. 55-64 years: 3.37 male(s)/female 65 years and over: 1.5 male(s)/female Total Population: 3.29Male(s)/Female Economy Qatar has prospered in the last several years with continued high real GDP growth. Throughout the financial crisis Qatari authorities sought to protect the local banking sector, with direct investments into domestic banks. GDP is driven largely by changes in oil prices and by investment in the energy sector. Economic policy is focused on developing Qatar's non associated natural gas reserves and increasing private and foreign investment in non-energy sectors, but oil and gas still account for more than 50% of GDP, roughly 85% of export earnings, and 50% of government revenues. Oil and gas have made Qatar the world's highest per-capita income country and the country with the lowest unemployment. Qatar's proved reserves of natural gas exceed 25 trillion cubic meters, about 13% of the world total and third largest in the world. Qatar's successful 2022 World Cup bid is accelerating large-scale infrastructure projects such as Qatar's metro system, light rail system, and the construction of a new port, roads, stadiums and related sporting infrastructure. According to CIA- World Fact book (2013)- GDP (purchasing power parity) is $202.56 billion GDP (official exchange rate) is $213.1 billion GDP - real growth rate is 6.13% GDP - per capita (PPP) is $102,100, country comparison to the world: 1 GDP - composition, by sector of origin is agriculture: 0.1%, industry: 72.2%, services: 27.7% Total Exports of the country are $12.7 billion and its country comparison to the world is 87. Exports commodities include liquefied natural gas (LNG), petroleum products, fertilizers, steel. Exports partners of the country are Japan 26.7%, South Korea 19%, India 12.1%, Singapore 5.7%, China 5.4%. Total Imports are $39.58 billion and its country comparison to the world is 60. Imports commodities include machinery and transport equipment, food, chemicals. 2

Education The education system in Qatar at all levels are directed & controlled by The Supreme Education Council and the Ministry of Education. The primary school is obligatory for every child and is free in public schools. According to CIA- World Fact book data (2010), total literate population of age 15 or above is 96.3%. Male literacy is 96.5% and Female literacy rate is 95.4%.
