The airport experienced positive passenger growth for the 25th consecutive month with respect to the year over year monthly increases. During the first half of 2017, RNO served 1,912,139 passengers, an increase of 9.7% when compared to the same period in 2016. During the fiscal year 2016/2017, RNO served 3,819,896 passengers, an increase of 7.2% when compared to the previous fiscal year. In June 2017, RNO was served by eight airlines providing 1,824 departures to 22 nonstop destinations (23 nonstop destinations if seasonal flights are included). At RNO, total seat capacity increased 8.1% and flights increased 4.9% when compared to June 2016. RNO, handled 12,396,234 pounds of air cargo in June 2017, a decrease of 7.7% when compared to June 2016. During the first half of 2017, RNO handled 75,410,300 pounds of air cargo, an increase of 2.2% when compared to the same period last year. During the fiscal year 2016/2017, RNO handled 158,068,206 pounds of air cargo, representing an increase of 4.9% when compared to the previous fiscal year. On June 4, 2017, Southwest Airlines started nonstop service to Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC). On August 6, 2017, the airline will increase the service from once a day to twice a day. The RNOSJC route is currently served by Alaska Airlines on a 76seat Q400 aircraft. On June 8, 2017, United Airlines started daily nonstop seasonal service to Chicago O Hare International Airport (ORD). This flight is a redeye service and will operate until September 5, 2017. American Airlines currently provides daily nonstop flights between RNO and ORD.
Starting November 21, 2017, Frontier Airlines will begin nonstop flights between RNO and Denver International Airport (DEN) three times a week. The airline will offer this service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, on 180 seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The RNODEN route is also served by United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. In June 2017, JetBlue reported a passenger increase of 83.7%, United Airlines was up 41.6%, Delta Air Lines grew 12.5% and Alaska Airlines reported an increase of 1.6% versus June 2016. Allegiant Air s passenger traffic decreased 17.5% and American Airlines reported a decrease of 6.5% during the same period. Volaris served 3,713 passengers during the month of June 2017, an increase of 1.4% when compared to June 2016. Cargo In June 2017, DHL reported an increase of 21.1% in cargo tonnage at RNO, when compared to June 2016. FedEx reported a decrease of 12.3%, while UPS was down 2.5% during the same period.

Recent and Upcoming Schedule Changes Allegiant Air On June 7, 2017, Allegiant Air reduced the number of flights between Reno and Las Vegas from six times a week to three times a week. The airline operates this flight on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Allegiant will increase the number of weekly flights during the Thanksgiving and winter holidays. American Airlines On June 3, 2017, American Airlines increased the nonstop flights between Reno and Dallas from twice a day to three times a day. The additional flight is a redeye service and will not operate on Wednesdays. The airline returns to the twice a day schedule on August 22, 2017. On June 2, 2017, American Airlines increased the nonstop flights between Reno and Chicago O Hare from once a day to twice a day. The additional flight is a redeye service. The airline returns to the once a day schedule on August 22, 2017. Delta Air Lines Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Minneapolis will operate until August 19, 2017, as a Saturday only service. This flight returns during the winter holidays. Starting September 10, 2017, Delta Air Lines will increase the number of flights between Reno and Salt Lake City from four times a day to five times a day. The airline returns to the four times a day schedule on November 28, 2017. Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Atlanta returns in December 2017. JetBlue Airways The nonstop flight between Reno and New York City will operate daily from May 21, 2017, through September 8, 2017, before returning to the four times a week schedule. United Airlines On June 8, 2017, United Airlines increased the number of nonstop flights between Reno and Denver from twice a day to three times a day. The airline returns to the twice a day schedule on October 29, 2017. United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Houston Intercontinental Airport operates on Saturdays and Sundays. United Airlines will increase the number of flights between Reno and San Francisco from four times a day to five times a day from August 15, 2017, through September 1, 2017. Southwest Airlines The nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Dallas Love Field Airport operates on Saturdays and Sundays. Starting August 19, 2017, this flight will operate on Saturdays only. Volaris The nonstop flight between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
