FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do students typically register for one or multiple weeks? Our courses are designed so that campers register for one week at a time. However, many campers choose to sign up for multiples week packages to build on their skills. Please note that whether you choose to register for one or several weeks of summer camp, your camper will have a blast and leave camp having learned a new skill and completed a project they can be proud of. What is the difference between full-time and day options? Full-time campers stay on campus for meals, housing and evening activities. Day campers are on campus for daily programming and lunch only. Day campers are invited to join full-time campers for dinner and evening and weekend activities at an additional cost. What is the student to staff ratio? We have raised the standard for learning with small course sizes averaging only 10 campers per chef instructor or TA. All campers receive hands on instruction through the day and are provided with proper equipment, so there is no need to share. Our curriculum is customized for beginner to advanced learners so that each camper can work at his/her own pace. What is the supervision like for campers living on campus? Is there any time that campers are allowed to leave without supervisions? Campers must be accompanied by a camp counselor at all times; campers will not be allowed to leave the dorms without a counselor present. Campers are transported via school bus to and from the dorms and to most evening activities. Do you have airport pickups? Yes we do pick up campers from the airport. Please make sure you email the flight itinerary to terrell.johnson@kendall.edu. Suggested airport is O Hare the Sunday before between 12:00 5:00 p.m. and return flight Friday after 5:00 p.m. What is the camper per counselor ratio? Max of seven (7) campers to one (1) counselor. What is the attire for Friday s Graduation Ceremony Reception? The luncheon is dress or business casual for the campers. Jackets and ties are not required; however shirts with sleeves and collars are requested. CAMPERS, NO JEANS PLEASE. What is the policy on smoking and substance use? We have a zero tolerance policy for the use or possession of alcohol, tobacco, weapons or drugs. Use or possession will result in immediate expulsion from camp. Parents and campers are required to read and sign Kendall Camps program rules and policies (included in your arrival packet) prior to attending camp. In addition, campers are made aware of these rules during camp orientation. 10

When is full payment due? Full payment should be received by May 1, 2016, if you need additional time or want to know your account balance please contact directly at 312.752.2206. How many students are in a class at a time? Average camp size is 18. What time of day should campers arrive at camp? Check in on Sunday between 5:00 7:30 p.m at the dorms. Day campers should arrive on Monday morning between 8:00 8:30 a.m. at, 900 N. North Branch Street, Chicago, IL 60642. Is there a discount for purchasing multiple sessions? Yes, if you purchase three or more camps during one summer you receive a $100 discount per camp. Is the $1,000 scholarship per week or total? Each camper will receive the highest award possible between the Camp Scholarship of $1,000 or Merit Award. Each camper will only receive one (1) camp scholarship. What is the medication policy? For more details please read the Medical Release form. Can I have visitors while at camp? Parents are welcome to visit at any time. Please call our office to schedule a visit or guided tour. Only parents and immediate family may visit the dorm rooms with the camper. Can I bring a cell phone? In many of the camp locations, especially the kitchens, a lot is learned through total immersion in the activities and programs. Personal phone calls can be disruptive to this process, for this reason; we ask that cell phones are brought for use only during the evening. 11
