C h i c a g o N o m a d s S k i C l u b N e w s l e t t e r June 1, 2018 Volume 56 Issue 3 The Prez Sez the Prez Sez...Bob - Grouch - Klawitter I hope you all had a great ski season without any injuries. Did you attend the Awards Meeting? Good music and many friends.. Now it s summertime and we will be getting together for picnics, biking, camping and other warm weather activities. Watch the newsletter, email and Facebook for announcements for the scheduled events. The first picnic is June 9th See you there. Soon next year s trips will be set. Ski-O-Rama will be in August. Be ready to sign up for the trip of your choice. Be sure to check and up-grade your equipment during the summer so as to be ready when the snow flies. Last year I didn t do that and wound up renting boots because mine fell apart. It was a sad day when I had to scrap my old boots but 20 years should be about all one can expect form a plastic shoe. Come out for our meeting and keep informed about club events. Meet new people that s what a club is all about. SEE YOU SOON! See you at the next meeting, As it is written, So shall it be. - Grouch Nomads, It s been a slice but it s now time to turn the reigns over to the very capable Vida Bartasius. This will be my last newsletter for the club. I may be off the board but I will still be around for various events and a backup for any questions Vida may have. It has been fun and I m so happy I joined this club and was able to get on the board. I have meet so many great people and It has been an amazing journey for me. I hope to see you all at the picnic June 9th. Bye for now, Scott Social Meeting 1st Wednesday of every month Joe Daniel s 12218 S. Harlem, Palos Heights 7:30 p.m.

Heather Seger Vice President Hello Ski and Snowboard Friends! I will be Trip Leading the Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico. As it gets closer to ski season I'll be researching a restaurant for a group dinner and options for adventures if you take a day off from skiing. You can purchase a 6th day lift ticket with or without the ski week lessons. Please see the trip flyer for details. - Heather NOMADS Membership Update June 2018 It s been fun being the Nomads Membership Director for the past two seasons. I enjoyed helping out the club and have met a lot of great people along the way! As we head into the beginning of a new season, I m happy to announce that Lee Marcheschi has volunteered to take over as the Nomad Membership Director for the next 2 years. Thanks Lee! This past year, our club membership reached 163 members up about 13% over the previous year. Many of the new & returning members joined as a result of current members referrals. Thanks to all the Nomads who referred a new member to the club this year. Let s see if we can continue to grow the club again this coming season. Have a great summer!! I look forward to seeing you at the Nomad picnic Steve If you re interested in joining the Nomads, please Visit our website at: www.chicagonomads.com Or, email us at: Info1@chicagonomads.com Hello fellow Nomads, This is Pat Doherty reminding everyone about the nomad picnic on June 9,2018 at Yankee Woods. If anyone wants to volunteer to help you can be there at 11:00am. It would be greatly appreciated. If not the picnic will start at noon. Also, we are going to try and set up a Friday afternoon happy hour on the third Friday of June at Chuy's Mexican restauarant in Orland. Details will be sent via e-mail. Thank You, Pat Doherty. Nomad Family Trip Dec 30-Jan 5 Sundance/Deer Valley/Park City!! I m still working out the details for our 14 th annual Nomad Family Trip but it s looking like we ll be skiing at Sundance, Deer Valley, and Park City while staying at the Zermatt Utah Adventure Resort in 2 and 3 bedroom condos for 6 nights from December 30, 2018 thru January 5, 2019. This will allow us to take advantage of the kids Christmas School Break and avoid missing any school. I m still working out the details/ pricing and hoping Southwest comes in with a better price than United did. However I do expect the pricing to be higher than last year s Family Trip (nothing is inexpensive/cheap), but the Zermatt Resort is an amazing property and has complimentary ski shuttles to Deer Valley and Park City along with local dining and establishments. In addition, kids through young adults (<20 years old) will have the option of sleeping for free on sleeper sofas, and there will be 4 and 5 day lift ticket options. I expect this trip to go sale to all Nomads at the July Social Meeting and please call me at home at 708-429-3286 if you have any questions. Thanks, Nomads won 3rd place for Most Improved Ski Club Save the Dates: August 18th Picnic Sept 8th Sox Game January 11th-22nd, 2019 European Trip February 23rd-March 2nd Chicago Week April 6th-11th Spring Fling Feb 29th- 7th, 2020 Chicago Week (See flyers)
