DSDS 2008 Partnership Information Delhi Sustainable Development Summit 7 9 February 2008 Sustainable Development and Climate Change Prime Minister of India (Dr) Manmohan Singh to inaugurate DSDS 2008 CEO Forum 2008 Curtain raiser to the DSDS Sustainable Development and Climate Change: The Business Outlook 6 February 2008 New attractions: International Climate Change Exhibition Displaying innovative technologies for a better future 7 9 February 2008 Lighting a million lives campaign Bringing light to rural India

About the Summit ABOUT THE SUMMIT DSDS 2008 Initiated in 2001, the DSDS (Delhi Sustainable Development Summit), an annual event organized by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) in New Delhi, has emerged as the most credible platform for international deliberation and dialogue on issues of long-term sustainable development, with a special focus on the issues confronting developing countries. Across the globe, it has been acknowledged that the problem of climate change is the consequence of unsustainable patterns of development that have intensified over many decades. The corollary is that the impacts of climate change would reduce options and opportunities for several societies to sustain development. It is, therefore, essential for the global community, including governments, business and industry, researchers, and academia as well as civil society to face the issues embedded within the broader subject of sustainable development and climate change. The 2008 edition of the DSDS is, thus, aptly based on the theme of Sustainable Development and Climate Change. Every year, the DSDS attracts the participation of governments and heads of states from across the globe. DSDS 2008 will play host to more than 100 speakers and 500 decision-makers over three days. Sponsoring the DSDS will offer unmatched opportunities for consistent exposure and communication with the people who influence policy and decision-making. Late Dr K R Narayanan, former President of India HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Prince of Jordan Prof. Ernesto Zedillo, former President of Mexico DIGNITARIES AT DSDS Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India HE Mr Kjell Magne Bondevik, former Prime Minister of Norway HE Prof. Ruud F M Lubbers, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands DrAPJAbdul Kalam, Hon ble President of India HE Ms Tarja Halonen, President of Finland HE Mr Mamadou Lamine Loum, former Prime Minister of Senegal Dr Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, President of the Republic of Iceland HE Mr Alain Juppe, former Prime Minister of France and Mayor of Bordeaux, France Dr Massoumeh Ebtekar, former Vice-President of Iran CEO Forum The CEO Forum is a unique event initiated by TERI BCSD (Business Council for Sustainable Development) India, in partnership with the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development), Geneva. The CEO Forum, the annual curtain raiser to the DSDS, is attended by more than 100 CEOs from India and abroad. Together with the DSDS, the CEO Forum seeks the support of the corporate sector, governments, and bilateral and multilateral agencies from across the globe in resolving major sustainable development challenges faced by businesses today. Spun around a theme related to that of DSDS 2008, CEO Forum 2008 will tackle Sustainable Development and Climate Change: The Business Outlook and will discuss the way forward to dealing with the issues of climate change in the current environment of energy insecurity. Supporting CEO Forum 2008 will provide sponsors high visibility and strong corporate branding. International Climate Change Exhibition An exhibition of an international standard will be held alongside DSDS 2008 (New Delhi) and will attract the top thinkers, delegates, invitees, media, and sponsors. The ICC (International Climate Change) Exhibition will focus on technologies for tackling climate change, such as clean development mechanisms, clean coal technologies, and carbon funds among others. The ICC Exhibition will give momentum to the solution-finding process by allowing participants to showcase their climate change developmental projects to an international market. This platform will offer sponsors unmatched branding and will, at the same time, signify their commitment for the environment. Participating as a sponsor at the ICC Exhibition will enable your organization to: Demonstrate your new technology, products, and services Build relationships Garner instant feedback on the product and its appeal Promote your brand to a global audience Position your company as a viable market leader in the climate-friendly sector Lighting a million lives campaign DSDS 2008 will be climate friendly through the Lighting a million lives campaign which has been envisaged to take solar lighting devices to rural households that have, until now, depended on traditional resources, like biomass, kerosene, or paraffin. Thus, the photovoltaic lanterns will not only provide lighting, they will also mitigate CO 2 emissions. In addition, the campaign will facilitate local livelihood by creating local entrepreneurdriven delivery channels to ensure repair, maintenance, and after-sales services of the lanterns.

Sponsorship opportunities Exclusive premier partnership DSDS 2008 invites select organizations to avail the opportunity to be the premier summit partner.
