CONCLUSIONS No outbreaks of BTV-8 in Spain (with the exception of Campo de Gibraltar LVU) since February 2009 European Countries that has been affected by BTV-8, with some exceptions, are free Countries more geographically close to Spain: Portugal and Morocco are free of BTV-8. France no outbreaks since December 2009 The monitoring and surveillance program implemented in Spain observes the requirements set out in points 1.3 and 1.1.2.1 of Annex I of Regulation 1266/2007 as regards the monitoring in order to provide the Commission with substantiated information demonstrating the absence of bluetongue virus circulation in an epidemiological relevant geographical area during a period of two years Program s results in the last 3 years (including two full vector activity period): there have no been BTV-8 circulation in Spain (with the exception of Campo de Gibraltar LVU) since February 2009 Spain is in position to declare BTV-8 freedom in the whole territory with the exception of Campo de Gibraltar LVU
